3 жыл бұрынFor nearly three decades, voiceover actor Kevin Conroy has been the voice of (animated) Batman. He has voiced almost every iteration of Batman in cartoons, animated movies or video games. Conroy began his career as a theater actor, attending Julliard, a prestigious acting school in New York City. He studied alongside heavyweights Robin Williams, Kelsey Grammer and more. Conroy would go on to perform on Broadway and off-Broadway when his agent called him about auditioning for the role of Batman in a new animated show. During the audition Kevin was able to use his theater background to manifest one of the most memorable voices in cartoon history.

I read his comic "Finding Batman" and the ending had me tearing up. I never knew how much he struggled in life but I'm so happy he could channel all that turmoil into the definitive Batman performance. Rest in peace Batman! 😭❤️

I agree. I have always imagined Batman having this kind of voice in the comics. He's always been depicted as a broken man who had just seen his parents gunned down when he was a kid. That's why Batman is always so moody and often full of rage when he's fighting crime.

I HAD to pay my respects to this legend. Every single time I read a Batman comic, it was HIS voice in my head. His separate voices for Bruce and Batman gave each character so much depth, and he literally set the standard for how Batman should sound. Thank you, Mr. Conroy. Rest in peace.

Here’s a fun fact. Robin Williams became Christopher Reeves college roommate as the result of an error. His actual roommate was supposed to be Kevin Conroy. Batman and Superman would have been roommates.

Miss you Kevin. You're the Christopher Reeves of the Batman universe. Other Batman voice actors modeled their style after yours lessening the blow when you're weren't cast to voice a Batman animated movie or series. All these videos of seeing Kevin and hearing that iconic voice of The Best Batman Ever makes me smile. I'm binging watching Batman the Animated Series and Justice League the animated series in honor of him and I need the smiles and laughter too in the dark times we're in. I have a new appreciation for the nausance of the original series and laughing at the jokes that went over my head in the DC Animated Universe. Legends never die. Their spirits become immortalized and you shall live through the thirty years of memories you left us with. We're all your little crimefighting wards. R.I.P Kevin Conroy aka The Dark Knight.

That footage of him when he was younger, holy shit he could have played Batman in a movie for real! Straight up buff Chad stud (no homo). He could still play Old Man Wayne in a Batman Beyond movie, that would be amazing. I kind of wish Robert Pattinson's Batman movie had been a Batman Beyond movie because I see him more as Terry Mcinnes than Bruce Wayne since he's younger, thinner and the hair. Think about it, Robert Pattinson and Kevin Conroy in a cyberpunk noir, set in Neo-Gotham.

As a life-long Batman fan I can safely say I’m devastated. I didn’t know the man personally, never met him at a Con, but I feel like a piece of my childhood was stripped away when he passed. Thank you Mr. Conroy for all of the memories. You are undoubtedly one of the great ones - the definitive and preeminent voice of the Dark Knight, our greatest detective, our Batman. I met Kevin back in 2018 and he is absolutely a gem of a person! He surprisingly had a very short line of people in the con and I was the last on the row. When we met and took a photo together he took 10-15 minutes of his time to talk to me about the Arkham games as well as the animated series after I told them how big of a part of my life they were. He could have easily cut those topics short and used the rest of his time to take a break until more people showed up but instead he decided to spare his time for a random fan.. that was honestly super touching and when I told him anytime I read a comic I always read Batman’s lines in his voice and Joker’s lines in Mark’s voice he laughed and gave me a hug. What an absolute legend. Truly one of the best experiences of my life meeting one of my biggest childhood icons 🙏🏻 *EDIT* I was literally heartbroken for almost an entire week after hearing his passing.. Sadly it wasnt Kevin...but It was Mark that I got to met one time...I mean not only is he Joker but LUKE SKYWALKER also...he could have blown me off but he treated me like I was the only person in the world for over 45 mins. It was awesome. I always wanted to met Kevin but never had the chance...

When it comes to Batman there’s Kevin Conroy and there is everyone else. When I met Kevin he was super awesome, down to earth and he appreciated his fans.

It’s not just that he voiced Batman for 3 decades , but it’s his boundless enthusiasm for the character and fans of Batman! If you ever met him, or watched interviews ( like this ) you can see how much he treasured the role!

Man this is so fucking wholesome, I can’t take it. Just recently started rewatching TBAS, and can’t believe it’s been this so long since I last seen it, such a masterpiece of an animated show. RIP Kevin, there will never be another soul that truly captured the essence of Batman in the way you did.

Kevin Conroy wasn’t just the voice of Batman, He WAS Batman!! So hearing about his death crushed me! I used to watch Batman TAS all the time with my dad. I’m 19 years old now but hearing Kevin Conroy’s Batman still brings back memories of the Dcau. R.I.P Kevin Conroy. No one played Batman better then you did. The fact that he worked with Robin Williams, the single most important human being ever, just shows how epic he truly was. First Christopher Reeves, then Robin Williams, and now Kevin Conroy. Three legends, more than just actors, now together united underground in death but forever above in our hearts..😢

Lesser Batman actors are forced to pursue other lines of work. Take Michael Keaton, for example. He turned to a life of a crime and became Vulture in the Spiderman Movie.

Because Kevin is a DCAU guy and DCAU had ended 1992-2006 (well some animated movies come from time to time where they use him)... But man as great as Kevin Conroy is DC wont get over their ego and start using him for non-DCAU related animations because they gay.

I've cried for hours. I didn't necessarily grew up with him in the animated series because I'm from another country, but Batman has been a big part of my life and especially the Arkham games. He was a legend 😢

Same. I met the man very briefly at Atlanta Comic-Con and immediately turned into an anxious child, but he so kind and patient. Didn't get to talk to him really, but I'm in tears, too
