Crazy fact: Hummingbirds are routinely preyed upon by praying mantises, making then the only birds to be regularly predated upon by an insect
@kennethmullen-qe9hg
@kennethmullen-qe9hg 15 күн бұрын
True! But also preying mantises will eat lizards occasionally, sometimes ones much bigger, and heavier than they are. Much larger, than one may even think would/could be possible from our perspective. Lizards most bugs avoid, as if their life depended on doin' so, them bein' professional insectivores, mind you, odds would say so, anyway, as most are. Except when it comes to mantises, a lizard likely will make a meal of one that's fairly smaller relatively, but a grown mantis will turn a normal day, into a very bad one, for the average lizard, likely never EXPECTIN' such a thing even possible. Mantises actually I'd really have to SAY are, basically, the insect-world's version of mustelids! Really fightin' way above their class, and weight! Both doing so viciously, and, while exuding such unmatched confidence all-the-while as well...lol!

Many animals went extinct without any help from humans. with or without humans All life struggles to survive. As the world constantly changes life must learn to adapt or they will perish. Humanity is simply Nature's biggest challenge yet to overcome and adapt to. Humans adapted and advanced so quickly that it overcame the natural speed for nature to adapt. If Nature is to survive, either Humans have to slow down or Nature has to speed up in it's adaptation. Overpopulation is NOT the problem, Population density IS. Standing shoulder to shoulder all humanity can fit in Jacksonville Florida with room to spare. Humans need to learn to live in places that ages ago were inhospitable but with modern technology it can be possible

Why does the thumbnail photo have a very different species of hummer? It's a Rufous Hummingbird of, primarily, western North America. Freaking ridiculous.
