In the west Bare Knuckle is known as Streets of Rage
Theres a few difference to the US version:
Axels clothing is the same as in SOR2, rather than that shit edit they did in the US version. Blaze's costume is also red, and Skate's power rating is slightly different, even though it doesn't show it at the character select screen. Shiva's Boss colour configuration is green, but playable he's blue. Plus, Very Hard mode, which is something that isn't present in the US version. Also interesting: Sub Boss 'Ash' was removed from the US version, because he was stereotypically gay XD - also the sprites of the females are alot more revealing in this too, in the US version, they gave them more clothing.
1st playthrough, Character: Axel.

2nd playthrough, Characters: Victy (Roo)

I had no idea SOR 3 even existed. I remember I played the US version with an emulator on PC and I had no idea the japanese version existed either. It's way better indeed.

To think, we all thought this was the last ever SOR game. Since then, there had been tons of fan-made games that have tried to answer the call of being Streets of Rage 4. But now, in 2020, we'll get the actual SOR4.

US version doesn't have very hard difficulty because this version is hard even on normal. And instead of "Hands of fire" Axel shouts "Bare knuckle"

Quite a bit better balanced than the US version, and has Ash, a gay character cut out of the US release for some reason.

Also: the difficulty in SOR3 is completely broken. Enemies do way more damage, which isn't more challenging- its just cheap.

My only guess the reason for Sega censoring for Streets of Rage 3 is because they are trying to avoid much backlash after the releases like Night Trap and the uncensored Mortal Kombat.

Another difference is that the difficulty of BK3 is much fairer than SOR3. Check out the damage charts. In SOR3, enemies can deal out more damage with higher difficulties which is bullshit.

i wanted to make a mod for sor remake where one of the three heroes was actually the main villiain but due to my lack of ability, i couldn't do it. it was gonna be called "SoR2 - After the Controversy" or something like that but i actually wanted to make blaze the main villain so she could be the final boss of the mod (despite blaze is my 2nd favorite character, shiva being 1st) since you cant put characters as bosses (except for mona and lisa with a perfect blaze pallete [i made one] and rudra)

tool-assisted, slow motion, saved states. I dunno, I just don't find these speedwalks that interesting, even if they are everywhere. Give me someone who finishes the game in one breath as it was intented to be played.

I know that Stream has Streets of Rage 3 on it but is the choice to play the Japanese version (aka Bare Knuckle 3) available for those that download Streets of Rage 3 from the Steam shop? In other words are Xbox Live Arcade (where a Streets of Rage Collection, was released under the Sega Vintage Collection series, featuring all 3 games and allowing the player to choose between the Japanese, European, or North American versions of all three games.) and a Japanese Genesis the only ways to play a legit Bare Knuckle 3 where we fight against Ash on Stage 1?

Just emulate it brah. Also, the difference between SoR3 and Bare Knuckle 3 are more than just Ash, in the western localization they butchered the Story and make it MUCH MORE DIFFICULT, Bare Knuckle 3 is the way to go.

Never played this until today,played the first two games when they were new.The first game has great music but Was easy to finish and the call the cops option was crap,presumably they realised that and kept it out of other releases.Second game is great in every way,tbh I don’t like the music as much in bk3 but other than that I like it better than the others,the franchise should have been continued...sega stupidity as always

If you dont kill it before the Master, you can play with the kangaroo, if you use the "countinue..." if dead. :)

Bare Knuckle 3 is way to easy. Even on very hard its easy. Streets of rage 3 actually gives you a challenge.

Except that challenge is kinda unforgiving. Game can get difficult and isn't that fun even with Japan making this game too much of a breeze but I had more enjoyment playing that than what we got.
