The physical cartridge of this game is known for going bad due to them using a very cheap boards for the rom. All you have do is de-solder the rom chip and solder it to another matching board that does NOT say TENGEN on it.

I don't know of too many games where you get to fly a badass ship and shoot up enemies that throw explosive hot dogs at you.

Sheer skill, amazing reflexes & enemy pattern recognition! iWatched almost every min... lol. During Stage 4 I read the comments. Then I resumed active gameplay viewing. Due to your Master Level Gameplay all ads were viewed/played as well. Other Viewers mentioned slowdown or the lack thereof. Was this played via eMu? If so, via cpu or rom cart (on real hardware). Because real cart & Hardware, one can expect “frustrating” levels of slowdown (at times). This slowdown doesn’t make GS a bad game just frustrating (at times). Besides that great vid!

I like how the original Japanese arcade gameplay is included as well (game type - "V-V", which has a Gradius-like powerup system). Also, the bullets remind me of Good & Plenties. :D

*donpachi. these games precede donpachi. why does everyone forget poor old donpachi? it's easily the most toaplanish of cave's entire backlog. even when the discussion is on the games that inspired dodonpachi, easily the most important and obvious influence (it's direct predecessor from which it pulled its scoring system, gameplay mechanics, aesthetic... even the ships to select from and final boss are the very same) is overlooked and denied a mention.

@Qweklain He mentioned that he had heard that the game suffered greatly from slowdown and flicker, so i claimed that it didn't suffer slowdown when played on a Mega Drive as he could have been asking if the emulator had fixed the problem the game may of had.

@aliwel Well i still play it on a Mega Drive and it doesn't suffer from any major slowdown......it's not a SNES lol XD

SNES slowdown is more the problem of poor programming, and not being familiar with the hardware. Hackers are fixing the games, one by one, removing slowdown, and they can be put on repro carts and played on a real SNES slowdown free. If fact they got Gradius 3 to run without slowdown, but had to repatch it, the problem, the game ran far too fast, even on a stock console.

Why is this shmup is getting a lot of hype lately--because it's Truxton's litte brother? B-grade shooter for the Genesis. When filtering out the decent retro games on the Genesis (was this even released in Europe), this game makes the grade, but there are better.
