commentary version: • Mega Man 4 - No Damage...
no cheats or glitches. first 8 robot master boss fights using mega buster only. 100% collection (wire, balloon, all unique e-tank and 1up -- except one 1up that I didn't know existed..). save games were only used between stages (this run was played segmented, just edited together to give a cohesive viewing experience). played on mega man legacy collection for pc (steam) using dualshock 3 controller

Unavoidable attack by using acid rain. But you can prevent that by just shooting him when he's shaking his body. (Disrupting his raindance)

I feel like this was a lucky run, mainly because bosses aren't going BOING BOING BOING round the whole map, leaping across the entire room and firing weapons to keep you where they want you.

Superb stuff. Really enjoyed the run, don’t care that it’s segmented. I’ve only recently got this game on the NES and I’ve come to realise it’s probably the best out of the first 4. I was a massive Megaman 2 fanboy but 4 is unbelievable.

Marchioness of Mustache Have a question for you, In Wily's 2nd machine, after the skull front fly's off, I'm using Drill Missiles, but they keep bouncing off. I Watched your video, and you beat it with Drill missiles. I jump as high as I can before I shoot, but everything keeps bouncing off. What should I do???

You can actually detonate the Drills prematurely by pressing B/shoot again while one is in the air. You actually have to detonate them just before they hit in this fight, so that the weak point gets hit by the blast. It takes quite a bit of practice to really get the hang of the timing... I still mess up and bounce them off or explode them too early quite a bit.

I will take segmented runs over TAS any day, and they are more legit then TAS IMO. Great job.

I think TAS has its own skillset and they can make for really entertaining videos; they're not so much about showcasing gameplay ability but rather showcasing how you can push the game to its limits. It just depends on what you're looking for in what you're watching, I guess. Thanks for watching!

Marchioness of Mustache I know. It is just when people have to use tools, that cheapens the experience. And speed runs now are all about glitches, exploits, that they are not legit either. I like watching 100% complete speed runs that don't skip half the game and call it a day. To each their own.

Video is edited, he has seven lifes in Skull man and in the next stage, Drill man he has only six lifes, he lost a life some where bwtween.

Purely by accident, I found out that when you charge Pharaoh, not only can you hit an enemy with the ball above your head without shooting it, but you can then fire a second shot of fully-charged Pharaoh without first recharging (you just can't see the big Pharaoh ball until you hit the fire button). Also, the second shot doesn't deplete any of your Pharaoh meter.

Great use of weapons, really. And I think you're the only one who actually collects all E-Tanks. Searching for someone who collects them all almost drove me mad, people can really suck. By the 1-up you say you missed, is that the one at 31:17 where you have to go left? I don't know if that's a 1-up or an E-Tank since there is no icon. Would be nice to see more MM games by you collecting all the stuff.

Hey, thanks a lot! Yeah I really like to make the most of all the weapons and try to be creative with them. I actually checked whether it was a 1up or E Can at some point but now I've already forgotten which it was lol. I might actually do another MM4 run eventually since I've started a written series about them now and it's been a while since I did this one. And yeah usually the E Cans and 1ups are in places that are a little tricky so it's fun to add them into the run. I didn't bother with MM1 though because the mechanics are way too clunky and you can miss so many of them for no reason XD

I played this on PC version. I have a few MM games on 3DS VC, but I can't play them because the buttons are too tiny, so I doubt I'll get MMLC for it.

No; they do nothing unless they are used in which they fully heal your life energy. I just like collecting them for fun.

Eh idk… This game is typically EXTREMELY unkind to reactions that are even slightly delayed. Take Bright Man, he should have stomped on your head more than once there and somehow he didn’t despite you running the wrong direction a bunch of times and then course correcting. And let’s not even get started on the sheer impossibility of beating the Giant Met without getting stomped on. Something isn’t right here.

How do u make bright man not use his flash stopping time

Bright Man will only freeze time when his remaining health is at certain numbers. I don't know the exact numbers but I do know if you shoot him with a regular buster shot at the beginning of the fight then ONLY use charge shots or Rain Flush after that, he'll never land on the 'bad' health numbers where he can freeze you.

Well I know this is a late reply but basically how his Ai works is that Brightman when you inflict this 3 key numbers “12” , “20” and “24” units of damage. There is where he uses the flash stopper. So example if rain flush which is his weakness, does 4 units of damage so if you hit him 3 times. He will use it. So to prevent it, just hit him with normal pellet shot which does 1 damage or full charge shot which does 3 units of damage to prevent it.

I only did it one stage at a time then edited them together XD I definitely couldn't do the whole thing at once. Just doing one stage is hard enough XD

Yeah, haha, it's pretty hard. I go through so many mistakes... I actually am recording all the failures as I do a a single MM1 stage right now (Ice Man) and I'm already getting close to 150 failed attempts... Jumping through those ice slashers requires too much precision and those lift things near the end glitch up and make you get hurt just for jumping lol. Most of the failures are just me doing stupid stuff like smacking my face into a penguin ^_^
