@@MrFatsluttytone I actually like Mike a lot. Without him, I don't think James would have kept doing the AVGN. From what I heard, he was the one that kept urging him to keep going after James did the first three. Then, while James was filming the movie, Mike kept making videos to keep the channel and website alive. I'm also a huge fan of Board James. It's probably my favorite thing those guys made. Also, Mike did A LOT of the work on Monster Madness. He's an underappreciated guy. I kinda look at him and James as having a yin/yang or Good Cop/Bad Cop kinda relationship. They balance each other out.

rangoononline that’s because Mike has no career, skills or value to society and knows that without cashing in on AVGN he’d be fucked. So he uses James’ work to give himself a platform with which to profit from.

Always found the original to be the hardest, love the megaman series. How do you do that glitchy move in elecman's stage to get the gun without gutsmans weapon?? Will it work on my ps4 version ??

The legacy collection versions should let you do it too, they are just emulating the original. You can still do the pause trick, so the zips and screen wraps should still work.

I still remember seeing that select trick in a Nintendo Power Classified information article and since then that's how I always been beating the rock golem Its so easy and I also do it at the end too for Dr Wiley ,may be cheap but very effective !!!!!!

To this day i still get angry just seeing that begining part of gutsman stage. It makes me so happy to see that there is a way to get this broken gun without clearing gutsman stage first thus making my childhood nightmare skip able

You can also replay elecman's stage to get it, his weapon will clear the blocks as well.

Have you considered installing the NES Blinking Light Win? It's a mod that replaces the 32 pins with a top load style slot that still front loads, also has a lockout chip on it, so it makes things region free/ easier to load properly without a dirty lockout pin or bad contact.

The NES lags at times. I'm playing through this game right now and the speed outside of lag is the same, maybe Mega Man 1 is slower than the sequels?

Hi everyone, I really enjoyed this speedrun here and laughed at the way Arcus "cheated" his way through the game. I can't but wonder, though, is there a lot of research needed to be done on these games to "hack the glitches" associated with them? Or do Arcus and others just observe others' speedruns and seek to do better? Anyway, great speedrun, Arcus, thanks.☺

Hmm. I don't know how he did it specifically. Mega Man 1 had a fun feature though where hitting something with the elect beam, and then pressing select (pause) about a bajillion times in a row reely fast. Or just having a controller that'd let you map that to what ever button. Alas that feature isn't in other megmans. At least as far I know.

This was a decathlon of games, so all the splits were in between games. This video only shows the last one in the series. However, it still might have been nice to hear "clunk" at the end of the whole run, or perhaps for the video to have been edited so that we could have heard the clunk at the beginning of the Mega Man split, the final leg of the overall run.

The first game is still good, but 2,3, and especially 4 are better games in my opinion. The first game clearly was definitely a bit rough around the edges.

@@ryane6545 There's other things to watch besides any% speedruns, you know. To compete in those runs you have to finish the game in the fastest way possible, including using glitches
