Note that Astro Boy purposely didn't permanently kill Megaman but still destroyed most of him just enough to fulfill the Death Battle requirement to win. The head is still intact where his consciousness and memory is so that Rush (whom Astro Boy spared) can send him back to Dr Light to be repaired. This is the second Death Battle where a character isn't permanently dead and, unlike Starscream, Megaman is in a scenario where he can be returned the way he was before with no ill effects.

I love MegaMan, but I respect Astro Boy. This is because in the 80s, Capcom was making an Astro Boy video game. However, Konami, Capcom’s business rival, took the Astro Boy license and Capcom went back to the drawing board to create an entirely new cast. And thus, MegaMan was created. So if Konami didn’t steal the Astro Boy license, then Capcom’s first intentions would’ve been fulfilled and MegaMan would’ve never existed.

I mean Astro Boy is been around long longer than Megaman.

I think the main thing is that that Astro is the more versitile fighter. Megaman usually wins with his numerous weapons and keeping his distance. Astro, on the other hand, will take a more direct approach and will just straight up fight someone.

Personally, I feel like there were some things forgotten here. Mega Man could have potentially frozen Astro Boy, or at least done something to him with ice, and slowed him down. Not to mention, in MM4, We're introduced to the Pharoah Shot, a solar charged high temperature energy blast with a pretty good kick. It's pretty hard hitting when Pharoah Man uses it, and he's inside a temple in the dead of night. Imagine what that could do under the full light of the Sun. Also, Mega Man had a lot more lasers than the mega buster, and a good amount of pretty devastating electrical attacks. Has astro boy been exposed to electrical shocks before?
