@@cmdelavega but when I copy and paste the mask it is in a different location and the size is not the same and I’m not sure how or why it’s doing that! I seem to be doing the copy and paste the same as in the tutorial.

Which part of the tutorial - send me the time and I'll take a look. In general, Ae works better when you copy/paste from same pixel resolution. The source and destination has exactly same dimensions. If not, masks will come at different sizes.

@@cmdelavega 6:02 on your video is where you are copying the mask. I copy and then paste it on the other layer - I wouldn't think the other layer would have a different pixel resolution or anything, why would it? But my mask o the new layer is offset to the right and up and it is larger! Weird!

Yes, that will happen if the layer that you're pasting is a different pixel size (Width/Height) than the Comp. The solution would be to precomp the layer then paste the mask.

You a God send. I'm late to your videos. I love this style. But the techniques you showing us, is giving me so much more insight into After effects. I can't wait to try this in my future projects. Also, if you have time to answer. What computer are you running that the preview is so smooth. I have. A 5950x, 32gig ram. 2060 GPU. Samsung NVME and seperate NVME for cache drive and I struggle with playback. Rendering is fine though.

Thank you Kat! Appreciate it. I don't have a tutorial on how to add the lower third like the one I used for Aaron Rodgers. In the upcoming weeks, I can add it to the project file (link is in the description btw) and will keep you posted. I basically used the same brush image that's used in the video. Add some grunge texture and the text.

You're welcome! You can add comic look on any layer. Yes, you can precomp matte layer with dotted texture, then apply comic look.

NICEEEEE TUTORIAL!!! May god bless you. QUESTION: if i would need to do it, i would naturally go for using only one composition with all the layers in it. NO DOUBT, your way is wayyyy more EASIER...... What makes you choose to use a few compositions? I mean, What makes you understand "Oh in this project its better to use few compositions"? Cause i assume there are projects you use only one comp.

Thank you. Sometimes I use pre comps or several compositions to keep things simple and tidy. This one in particular I designed it for my colleagues at the NFL. I was making them a template where all they needed to do was make an easy change in a few comps and final comp would update without them going to deep under the hood.

Hola JB! Depende de los plugins que usas. La mayoria de los plugins funcionan con CC2019. No estoy seguro con CC2020. Yo estoy usando version CC2018 y no he tenido problemas con los plugins de Red Giant y Video Copilot.

Hi CM. I'm working along with this, so far do good until the ink splatter. Do your ink splatters have alphas? I have a couple (non alpha) and I don't see the one on the bottom. Anyway, I tried with just one but when I added the colour splash jpeg and the ALPHA MATTE nothing happens. The colour jpeg just sits on top. So I wonder if there is an issue with my ink splatter movs (they're also black on white, rather than your white on black if that makes sense) I hope I've explained that properly and you understand what I'm whittering on about!

My ink splatters do have the alpha channel built in. If yours don't and its a black and white matte, you need to use Luma matte instead of Alpha Matte.

During the cutout stage couldnt you use Roto Brush instead of manually cutting out the figure?

Yes, you could use rotobrush, totally up to you. I prefer to use rotobrush for moving objects and other methods to cutout single frame - I sometimes use Photshop's great selection tools for this.

didn't have the license to include in the bundle so had to leave it out... but you can do search on KZfaq for powder explosion and you should find several.

Would love to help but I don't even own Sapphire. I just use it at the NFL - they have licenses for it. Start off by mastering the effects and techniques that are in AE. Go from there! Good Luck amigo!
