Dave isnt the best singer, but is perfect for megadeth, imo.

It isn't singing per se. It's more of a growly singing, so it escapes the "singing" realm. He is perfect at what he does, in that sight.

The word "umeboshi" that he mentioned in this video is a Japanese word that means "pickled plum". "Ume" means plum, and "-boshi" stands for "dried", but usually it's not dried. As Dave said, it's salty and also very sour. In Japan, "umeboshi" is very popular and we usually eat them with rice.

Some vocals take a little time to get used to. But once you got it, they stand out from all the others that haven't a unique voice. In his case it didn't really took me long to get into it. I like his vocals and I think they fit perfectly into megadeth. It was more a challenge for me to get from death metal vocals to the kind of vocals that are used in heavy metal or thrash metal. In the beginning I didn't liked those high pitched vocals like in judas priest or iron maiden, but after a while they grew on me and now I couldn't imagine these bands without them.
