On the island of Sulawesi, Indonesia lies several remote valleys; Bada Valley, Napu Valley and Besoa/Behoa Valley.
Bada valley has an ancient megalith called Palindo, and this stone statue could be 5000 years old. Made by an unknown civilisation.
The rest of bada valley is scattered with ancient stone megalithic sites and statues. Some are very hard to find and I did not find them all. Central
Sulawesi is am incredible island.
Napu valley has a treacherous road with tales of terroists living in the jungles of Lore Lindu national park. Just before my campsite at Pancake Napu I was warned by the army checkpoint to beware.
It took me 9 hours of driving from Toraja to get to Lake Poso and Tentena, from there another 3 hours to Bada Valley, and from Bada Valley to Napu valley another 6 hours.
These valleys are so remote that there isn't even a road that links them all together even though they are not that far from each other.
The roads are long winding, steep and dangerous. But I made it my mission to visit them.
Watch the episode to find out if I made it.

That interaction you had with those two guys after they found your GoPro is a picture perfect example of how awesome the people are there. Best people on Earth. Brought back a flood of memories. The way he gave that exasperated sigh… I’ve seen it a thousand times if I’ve seen it once. Just the coolest thing ever.

Great video sam, I'm from Makassar and ride the same bike as yours, little tips if you drop your bike, just turn off the key switch for about 10 secs and turn it on again, there is a lean sensor that automatically switch off the engine when the bike is falling, and avoid the engine to start before you turn off the key switch, good luck with your journey, i hope we can meet when you're at Makassar

you're crazier and wilder than mr. Kris, just passing through the valley of the terrorists is already scary, let alone camping and spending the night in the area, wow, that's really very scary, especially since the Poso terrorists are known to be very brutal and cruel, and what makes you special is that you visit places that are rarely or even never explored by anyone. I wonder what was the purpose they put the stone separately one and another. According to anthropologists, ancient people in southeast Asia used to pray to their ancestors and it still exists up to now in some tribal areas. Hopefully, archaeologists will find it interesting to find out. But, with the gigantic size, it's hardly possible to move the stone miles away from one another. btw It's in my mind though. Could it be aliens involved hahahaha...
@IndoWild

Apparently in one jar they found human bone. I reading one theory where they believe that people were put inside alive. I really wonder what went on during the ancient times here. It’s fascinating thinking about it but at the same time sad because we will never know. I really hope someone funds a true archeological dig one these places one day.

We went here in 2014, some of the best memories I've had in Indonesia, we wanted to hike crossing the national forest from Kulawi but failed because the roads were basically horrible or non-existent, so we went through Tentena. Some of the roads you passed by are still in the same condition, if not worse due to constant landslide.

I agree. So much undiscovered ancient history in the archipelago. Gunung Padang in Jawa and these megaliths in Sulawesi are fascinating. And then thinking about the fact most of Indonesia was “sundaland” during the last ice age. Most archeology will be under the Java sea now as the rising sea level 13,000 now covers them likely settlements and possibly more structures.

@user-wj9zr4rt2n yes. But unfortunately they don’t have the funding yet to confirm it. Some academics think it’s a young site. There are chambers inside the mountain which should be excavated first. I hope they get the funding from the next president so they can prove once and for all the age of this man-made mountain. I visited and documented it here kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ga9lqaWl38yycoE.html Yet another wonder this country has ❤️🇮🇩

Don't panic if the motorbike falls and can't start it, because Bank Angle is a circuit breaker on the engine. When it falls to position 60 to 45, Bank Angle will actively turn off the engine if it falls... wait 5 or 6 minutes, then the engine can be started. return.

Ohhh so it’s a switch and timer that does it? I thought maybe the engine had flooded.

@@IndoWild yes, the bank angle system works as a circuit breaker on the ECM and turns off the engine automatically if the motorbike falls to avoid fire... there is a 5 minute timer, after that the motorbike can be restarted...
