Livyatan - The Legendary Creature That Hunted Megalodons
Livyatan's total length has been estimated to be about 13.5-17.5 m (44-57 ft), similar to that of the modern sperm whale (Physeter macrocephalus), making it one of the largest predators known to have existed. The teeth of Livyatan measured 36.2 cm (1.2 ft), and are the largest biting teeth of any known animal, excluding tusks. It is distinguished from the other raptorial sperm whales by the basin on the skull, spanning the length of the snout. The spermaceti organ, contained in that basin is thought to have been used in echolocation and communication, or for ramming prey and other sperm whales. The whale may have interacted with the large extinct shark Megalodon (Otodus megalodon), competing with it for a similar food source. Its extinction was probably caused by a cooling event at the end of the Miocene period causing a reduction in food populations. The geological formation where the whale has been found has also preserved a large assemblage of marine life, such as sharks and marine mammals.

Finally the most glorious animal in history managed to protect his title as the emperor of the ocean and avenged not just his brother, but probably all the other megalodons who fell because of the whale leviathan.

"Emperor of the seas", really?) Is this a small (compared to some REAL monsters) and slow scavenger shark?))) Yes, even now there are a bunch of scarier and much more skillful predators. The same sperm whale or Antarctic giant squid. Not to mention the killer whales that made Meg extinct. And even more so, not to mention ancient monsters like Dinichthys.

though the idea of Megs hunting in packs is certainly a very interesting one. It is indeed unlikely. However, at the same time Livyatan may have also been a solitary hunter.

In reality, megalodons do not fight in groups and levyathans should be the ones in groups, they are smarter and become apex predators and are one of the factors that caused megalodons to become extinct.

there is no evidence whatsoever to sugest that Levyathans hunted Megalodons, hell, I've seen the hypothesis of them being packhunters also called into question. The most likely theory is that Levyathan, much like Megalodon, couldn't adapt to the oceans cooling with their prey moving elsewhere.

Megalodon was *probably* what caused Livyathan to become extinct at that.

Absolutely not. In reality, megalodon was a scavenger and would never compete with Leviathan again. In the video, it is too much enlarged, here are the real characteristics. The length of the Leviathan is up to 18m, the weight is up to 120t. The length of the megalodon is up to 13 m and the weight is up to 45 t. That is, it is literally three times smaller and at the same time slower, because leviathan is a cetacean, i.e. not a fish, but an animal.

Because in reality: smaller hunters are *usually* those that hunt the bigger game, so my historical guesses match the fossil evidence; plus we know that Megalodon bit into the biggest bones of the largest whales: and actively hunted them... so thus your guess is incorrect on all points.

@@chissstardestroyer "small animals usually hunt larger ones" - small PACK animals. Or have you ever seen a wolf hunting a bear?) Maybe a shark for a killer whale?)))) Your meg may have been an active predator, but only in his youth. And then he became a scavenger, like today's adult white sharks. Hence all these marks on the bones, with no signs of healing or struggle. And yes. He also looked much more boring than you imagined, it was more like a sand shark, rather than a large version of a White one.

@@user-yz9ko1yj2e Actually, they do; and that's due to their mobility and capacities: plus we've got the whale *bones* that Megalodon bit into, and these were *adult* whale bones from animals far larger than this whale. Plus, Megalodon was actually *at least as large* as this whale species. Not only in his youth, but throughout his entire life. Again, you're wrong on all accounts.
