The Mega Man series was one of the most successful on the NES, and by the time the 5th game came out they had firmly established the formula. Mega Man 5 may not be the most innovative game in the series, but it absolutely delivers on robot blasting action!
The graphics are top notch, and the music goes above and beyond what is expected from an 8-bit game. This time Mega man has a new robot pet - Beat the bird - and he can put a serious beatdown on some of the late game bosses!

I remember beating this game in 93 when I was in kindergarten. This is the game that made me love video games and become the crazy collector that I am today.

The NES Mega Man games are always a good time! I do like how the lore explanation for Mega Man's Mega Buster being so powerful in Mega Man V is because it was upgraded by Dr. Cossack as a reward for saving his daughter in Mega Man IV.

Technically Proto Man saved Kalinka, but I guess he also helped kidnap her, so might as well give the cool buster upgrade to the brother that didn't do that. Plus, Proto Man already has a sick buster.

22:00 There is a trick I do for the Beat letter in Crystal Man's stage. Do a big jump near the top to align with the left wall at the beginning height of the jump. After passing the spikes in the second screen and transitioning to the third falling screen, hold left to get the letter. Guarantee of getting the letter without dying or pushing the left directional too late.

I know 2 and 3 are the most beloved games, and I understand why. But the latter three games are so much more polished, I find it hard to go back to the first three sometimes. Five is my least favorite of the second three games, but I still had a fun time with it.

Fun strategy for the fight w/ Crystal Man: If you stay close to Crystal Man and move under him back and forth shooting him when he lands, he'll never use his Crystal Eye attack. Instead, he'll just keep jumping over you at close range. It's exactly the same technique used against Toad Man from Mega Man 4. Great vid and channel!

I think this was my favorite Mega Man of the 6 on NES. Part 3 will always be the most special to me (I had 2 copies at one point, along with all the others). But I love them all. Never even got to Mega Man 7...... Thank you for showing!

One of my favorites too, along with Mega Man 3. As a side note on 1:35:00, Crystal Man's designer is a young Yusuke Murata (along with MM4's Dust Man), who later illustrated the manga One-Punch Man!

I love the scene out your window in this one! Great choice; this isn't my favorite Mega Man, but it does have my favorite soundtrack out of the NES titles. I usually start with Charge Man, just so I don't have to use Power Stone against him; I like to think that Capcom made Power Stone for the Dreamcast out of penance for how bad this weapon was.

Crystal Man uses the Crystal Eye attack based on Mega Man's distance to him being far away. This means that the player can manipulate the AI to prevent Crystal Man from using that technique by staying closer to the boss.

I just wanted to pay my respects and wish you luck in the games. I completed the first Megaman in 1996. The 2, 3, 4th chapter I've recently walked through with your tips. While waiting for 5th chapter of Megaman on your channel I started playing in it. I reached Dr. Wily castle and the 5th episode of UCBVG Megaman came out. We're on the same page - playing the same game simultaneously. Ur tips was very useful to beat Dr.Wily. But there is no capsule room shortcut in the Japanese version. I had to take pleasure from rematch with bosses. It's great that after all these years so many people haven't forgotten 8bit games. Waiting for 6th episode of Megaman)))

Great video as always. I remember introducing a friend who was interested in learning about older games to this. I thought this was probably the best one to start with because it's easy and has a more modern approach and sensibilities to it. He got wrecked by Gravity Man and gave up. I was a little surprised because we played Super Mario World together and he could do most of the harder levels in that.

In the Battle Network series Gyro Man flies with the propeller on his back but he also transforms into an actual helicopter too and also acts as the computer program for a real helicopter used by his human operator Really cool way of making the physics make sense, it's not just a weird detective's forever alone hat

Power Stone has two major strengths, which are illustrated in its boss fights: 1. You can hit enemies behind you while running away from them. This is valuable against Charge Man. 2. You can hit enemies way on the other end of the room while jumping and dodging. This is valuable against the final Dark Man. Guys, it's actually useful.

YEP!! this is my first Megaman game i have played back in elementary days not sure if grade 5 or 6,2000,01 or 02...so every sound/bgm had been always nailed in my brain..thankfully i was able to beat it even though im just a kid and no knowledge about internet even strategy guide..its about learning every stages,how it is laid out, dying many many times and strategize how to beat the bosses..same as Ninja Turtles The Arcade i also beat that 1 PLAYER ONLY..so Megaman V will always have a place in my heart.... anyways Nice Video SIR!!!! this is the megaman game i played the most as a kid. Dunno why, i remember the fake protoman fight being a massive wall for me back then so i rarely ever managed to beat this game.

Hands down, my fav action platformer series. It only gets better, by following a recipe that works, and never jumping the shark... at least not on the NES.

I remember getting this game in my early teens from some family member as a birthday or Christmas present one year, and despite already having an SNES, I still had my NES as well so I invested a fair amount of time in this game and even though I don't think I ever beat the entire game, I do remember fighting the 8 robot masters repeatedly on various playthroughs and I don't think I ever figured out the particular "weapon" each one was weak to and instead would beat all of them with my Mega Buster every time. This is partially because in older games in the series, certain bosses were basically invulnerable (meaning like 1 bar of health taken off by a shot from your arm cannon, versus them killing you in a few hits) if you didn't have the correct weapon, but if you did have the correct weapon, they would die in like 3 or 4 hits. Versus this game where the correct weapon often does only slightly more damage than a charged shot from the Mega Buster. Also, thanks for teaching me 30 years later that Gyro Blades can go up or down. Never knew that.

Mega Man V, for me, has the second best soundtrack after Mega Man II. Outside of II where Metal Blades cost like nothing to use and Flash Stopper for Quick Beams, I never seem to ever think about using the weapons I'm bestowed. Thank you putting the idea in my head. And I could say that on each of your videos. I hope you get to VI soon.
