Its not a screenshot, they had to remake and re-render the scene in a new graphics quality. Its clear when you look at the eyes, the material for the shoulder pads, and the material and shaders used for the fountain. Its remade from a reference from the original, at least what i can tell.

Modern corpo ruins everything, don't they. Megamind 1 had a mature storyline, good storytelling, was well-written for both children and adults, and didn't talk down to its audience. Megamind 2 comes by after 14 years, offering a continuation no one ever asked for, and spits in the face of the original creators by completely ignoring the entire premise of the first movie. Megamind never had friends. He only ever had Minion and his robots. No friends, no colleagues, no family. That's the entire point. Oh yea by the way, there's a squad of guys we forgot to mention, but they're here now. Everything touched by modern corpo turns to crap. Don't even hatewatch.

All flaws: 1. Sloppy cut between the TV and the original movie footage at the beginning 2. Slightly unsynced audio 3. The girl points straight up in the air when talking to Megamind 4. Thinks it’s on the save level as the original via old movie cuts 5. Not canonically accurate (Megamind was in prison for most of his life) 6. Crappy animation & lighting 7. Basic walking animation and “No!” of the Doom Syndicate in the lab 8. Basic villain ideas (mime, electrical superpowers - really?) 9. Some weird thing on the right when the Doom Syndicate is running 10. Unfunny jokes 11. News van in the middle of the road like 2 inches away from the gray car 12. TENNIS BALLS 13. No moving animation for the flash grenade - just a flash at the center of the Doom Syndicate member 14. Megamind’s snapping shoulders during the show teaser. 15. Lack of returning actors (They definitely thought this script was bad) 16. This movie heading directly to streaming (that’s never good) 17. Couldn’t the girl just take inspiration from Metroman instead of Megamind? They literally state in the trailer that Megamind was a few days into his hero business. She couldn’t have been too young to not know about Metroman 🤷‍♂ 18. Trailer are supposed to show the best parts of the movie. If these are the best parts, then… ugh… don’t want to even imagine… 19. When the people are running away from the Fish tank thing, the far-right dude wearing the green shirt suddenly teleports to the left just before the Minion and Megamind cut (It’s hard to spot - slow the video down) 20. A lot more that y’all can find Summary: ChatGPT can create a better story than this “sequel”.

It looks to me like Dreamworks had a streaming deal with Peacock and gave them the rights to make a throwaway kids cartoon series, which Dreamworks has done before. Lo and behold, Peacock decided to make a whole movie out of the IP and pin the project on some low budget kids animation studio.

This...the best way I can describe how this feels is like; they saw us wanting a Megamind 2 really badly after people suddenly remembered how good the first one was like 2 years ago, so that's when they decided "Oh people like it that much, sure I guess let's make a sequel, easy money right boy's?" and just shit out this slop in the 2 years since. Especially from the "Megamind is back. You're welcome.". I expected better from you DreamWorks. It goes to show how many varying people there are in an entire studio. You have geniuses brimming with passion who make movies like Shrek, or the first Megamind, or Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, and so on, and then in some dark corner you have the money-bugs who don't care about the product as long as they get paid.

The Doom Syndicate was in the early screenplay of the first movie but didn't make it to the final cut. They are in "The Art of Megamind" book and some of them also appeared in the Megamind game too. (None of them are in the trailer tho. All of them are either redesined to look worse or just different characters.) These people actually did some research for Megamind lore. The trailer has some other references to old lesser known Megamind stuffs too. *Which is nice but does not make the trailer good by any stretch of imagination.
