It’s kinda hard to rank some of these schools because their school identities haven’t aged well at all. I’ve been saying this for years but I really wish KI would add school specific abilities, that are restricted to your school, not your cards. Like for example, fire wizards have an ability called “The Fire Rages On”, which detonates fire DOTs and increases fire damage after every hit until hit with an ice spell. Ice could have an ability called “Frigid Defense”, where they can intercept all AOE damage with a 5% chance to inflict “freeze” on the attacker. I feel like wiz has gotten too redundant and needs to stop relying on the same formula to take a massive risk. I know they’re concerned that it’ll make pvp busted but dude let’s be real, pvp has been and always will be busted, it’s been like that since the game came out and hasn’t changed. I’d like to see them make changes to pvp after they’ve fixed the main problem (imo) which is how unbelievably stale and repetitive PvE is. It’s to the point where I can’t even tell the difference anymore between playing my death wizard and playing my life wizard, they all do the same thing one just steals health the over gives health. Bring back school identity!!!

lol i was sad seeing ice in the low tier. My fav is ice because of the cool asthetic and "snow", I feel like the first time people play w101 and get their first school from the quiz, it just stays as their main for some. I love the health and resist aspect of ice, and that even though i get annoyed that battles take long from lack of damage, it makes me think harder on what is my next move, rather than mindlessly hitting like storm lol.

My Myth was born in the Old Days when Orthrus wasn't an AOE and you had to desperately grind for Mystic Colossus for a good AOE and we were the butt of everyone's jokes. Proud to be a Mythie from the days of old (although Life is my main, I always seem to gravitate towards healer roles)

I've been a huge advocate for Myth for a while now, even more-so with the introduction of Monstrology. The fact that Myth gets the exclusive ability to summon more than one monstrology creature at a time is amazing, and probably should've applied to basic minions from the start. Granted it takes a while for it to become worth your time, and even longer for proper payout, but since I farmed Mirror Lake for weeks on end (pet snacks) I'm free to pull out triple Starburst Spiders whenever I feel like it.

Been a Balance wiz since 2009. It’s come a LONG way, and I love how it’s still beloved in groups. I tried to solo and while it can work it takes a while. Though I miss my friends. We used to run the dungeon gauntlets or whatever they were together, and all I needed was my Life Mastery amulet and blades 😅

I love Balance because I love playing supports in most games. The blades and shield spells helped me a lot when I used to play

Every since the free arc 1 I started getting into game (storm wizard lol) and have been really enjoying all the KZfaq content I get to see now. I do have a request for a video for "School Reworks" ya know like how could you change storm to make it more fun while still keeping it's identity.

As a balance main you do touch on a lot of issues i have with the school. I'm currently level 44 and questing by myself does really feel like a slog. With the archmastery system now in place It does feel much better as I can invest in loremaster spells to cover the lack of damage, but then it just ends up feeding into a pay to win system. I like having some spells from every school since i really like the "jack of all trades" type of playstyle, but i really do think balance needs something.

My main is a death wizard, I had gotten it from the quiz the first time I played when I was a kid and then again when I started playing again a few years ago, and I just love it!! The past few months I've been branching out and playing with the other schools but I am still very loyal to death as my no.1, I feel like the gameplay of death has a uniqueness the other schools don't which makes it both easier to play but also more fun to play (personally of course). If I had to rank them it would probably be 1. Death 2. Balance 3. Life For 4, 5, 6 i haven't played enough with myth, storm, or fire enough to feel right in having an opinion 7. Ice (some ice bosses have traumatized me and i just cant, i have a unreasonable dislike idk)

I've always found the spirit schools way more interesting and fun to play than the elemental schools. I love storm in terms of aesthetics but I'm only leveling one to make farming easier.

Myth would be my favourite if they buffed mystic collosus back to where it was, even if it is rare I have to be excited when I get a shadow pip or the school is just not as fun.

I personally love Ice It is fun to have overstatted resistance and taking advantage of it to buff up attackers (or trap foes) in party play That and their stat spreads might be low on damage, but are absurd with how high their damage is while still having stupid high resist

Hey Kaiser great video! I was alwasy off and on with Wiz and it was great to see a video like this. I finally got to the end game with storm and frustration that I had with it was unreal, Idk why I stayed with it since I was alwasy a die hard Myth wiz! Also maybe for a video idea you could do another spell tier list since I saw there were some big spell changes. I would also be interested in a video where you explain what changes you would make to a school to make them better or more intersting.

All schools are so very samey now. Back in Dragonspyre Era you generally wanted storm for massive hits, myth to clear enemy buffs, life as support and balance/death for additional setup. Now all schools hit pretty hard and can survive fairly well EXCEPT for Storm. With the changes to critical, enemies health pool getting higher and fights lasting longer, between 120-present Storm is hard mode.

Ice (OP high level, Good challenge) 6. Fire (Nerfed to Kingdom come, Bad overtimes) 7. Storm (Immense Boredome)

It's very interesting to hear other people's opinions because everyone enjoys different things for different reasons. I've always enjoyed playing video games as a side activity, one that I dont need to fully focus on but something casual and lighthearted to pass the time which is why I enjoy storm the most. I've just about soloed 90% of the game with storm, didnt really need to think at all and to me that's enough I also really enjoy the "power fantasy" and the whole Mary Sue feeling video games can provide especially when you are struggling in other areas of your life, its like a break from all of that in which you're just really powerful and that can be fulfilling! :) So leaning into that power fantasy by playing storm can be very fun :D (I also play dnd with friends for the same reason haha

I guess we have pretty opposite play styles. My favorite schools from best to worst are: 1. Storm, 2. Ice, 3. Life, 4-5. Balance or Myth, and 6-7. Fire or Death. Storm was my first wizard I made 10+ years ago, so I think it was very difficult in Arc 2 to survive without dying and presented a big challenge to me until I got Darkmoor gear. Nowadays, I use a more tanky build of Storm (52 resist and lots of block) that tries to dual school storm and life. I find it very fun, and I don't get stuck in the trap of just spam tempest and win. I also love how many AOE options storm has. Storm has an AOE for basically every situation and none of them are that situational. It lets me mix it up when I get tired of one animation. I also really enjoy ice because like you said in the video, ice gets very nice stats nowadays. Once I level up my ice, I have a gear setup that will give me 78 universal resist with 96 storm resist and 167 ice damage. Or I could sacrifice some damage and become the ultimate tank with maycast tower shield, steal ward, legion shield, brace, and mass tower shield. The early game for ice sucks HARD though because its gear is extremely underpowered. It loses its damage like it is supposed to, but they don't make up for it with high defense like they should. Ice's gear usually only gets 2-4 extra resist but sacrifices power pip, accuracy, and a lot of damage. I really wish they would go back and give older ice gear a buff. I like life just because I find healing fun. Its not something that most schools have the ability to do well at all. Life, however, gets access to so many AOE heals which lets me make sure my team never dies. Sprite Swarm, Unicorn, Pigsie, Rebirth, and Wings of Fate are all great heals if you know how to use them. (Also the Root of Spring maycast Rebirth is so great.) Supporting is more fun than hitting most of the time. The only downside to the life school is that in order for you to be a healer, you have to be in a fight where you take lots of damage, otherwise it doesn't make sense to set as a healer and are relegated to being another hitter. Myth and balance are okay. I don't have a strong opinion on either school, but I think they are decent and well rounded schools. I think myth's gear for Arcs 1 and 2 are a little underpowered, but its definitely not as egregious as ice's gear. My least favorite part about the school is that one of myth's most used spells is a giant frog puking. I wish we could look at something a little less gross. And balance is a great support school when you don't care about healing, although it has a few of those too. Its probably the most well-rounded school (as it should be) so its just unremarkable overall. I've never been a fan of fire or death. They are the only schools I haven't made a wizard for. I just don't really enjoy the death aesthetic or how easy it is to quest with drain AOEs, and I never found fire's dots to be that fun either. If you are gonna hit, might as well do it on the same turn rather than wait 3-5 more rounds... Idk how my comments always end up being an entire short essay every time, but its hard to fit everything into a concise comment... If you read all the way through, thanks! I agree with your list mostly but for me, I feel like storm is just my right play style, I just enjoy the thrill of knowing that if I dont kill fast enough, they will most definitely kill me, and thats especially the case in higher areas like the catacombs and for me, empyrea where the enemies can hit hard, it really gets me excited for the battle. And also personally I dont like going too slow in gameplay it makes me unmotivated

I agree with the ice school. I just leveled my ice to 110 right now, and I gotta say the first two arcs was a living nightmare and for all the reasons you mentioned. But once getting to at least Polaris, things became a breeze at least for me.

im so glad life got a high ranking! i’ve been life since probably around 2010 and i’ve always enjoyed being a support role. the damage output is annoying but i’ve found soloing pretty easy once i figured out how to organize my decks

I am level 160 in storm and I'm about to start a new playthru. I really really enjoyed my playthru. Yes it does get difficult sometimes with setting up within the amount of life you have but I honestly VERY MUCH enjoyed it. I would recommend it to anyone who is used to this game

i agree with the fire opinion, but i personally like fires spellement paths a lot too, they make solo questing so easy because im always getting healed / breaking their shields. ( my fire is only lvl 56 btw )

For me Storm and Ice are my favorites and Death and Myth are my least favorites, i just find myth to be kinda useless as a hitter when storm does more damage and death is just too easy and broken with their hit and heal

I’m new to the game (level 68 in 2.5 weeks) and chose myth because it said it has minions. I stopped using them pretty fast but I still love the class and don’t see myself ever making any other wizards (at least not until he’s max level). Orthrus is the goat

I’m unsure how many times I said this, but I still had the most progress with Death. I just completed Thieves’ Den in Mirage. The second time I beat the first Arc was with my Balance. By the time I beat Malistaire as my other five Wizards… I may be approximately levels 45-47… Needless to say, I don’t think I’m ready for my Wizards to enter Celestia. I’m going to beat Wysteria with the Wizards I haven’t finished Wysteria as, do a good amount of Grizzleheim, especially get the seven rank spells, and get the gear where I can crit before finally entering Celestia as everyone else. How does that sound for a plan?

This is how I would rank the schools and my opinions on each. I already did it five months ago, but my views have changed 1. Death (I love death because a lot of their spells give you health back, and it also gives you feint, which is amazing) 2. Life (Was the first school I ever picked and it has amazing stats and amazing healing spells. I did struggle a bit with not getting an aoe spell until level 48) 3. Myth (It does excellent amount of damage, and orthous is an amazing spell and my only problem with this school is the amount of minions this school gets) 4. Fire (It is the only elemental school I enjoy doing because metor strike is an awesome aoe spell. It is not my favorite since it is easy like Storm but I don’t get bored when questing on it) 5. Balance (deserves a 35% blade and should get a prism at low level because I struggle fighting balance bosses at low levels. This school also is a challenge which makes me enjoy it so much and I just started Azteca.) 6. Ice (This school to me has never been my favorite because the stats are not the best and you also don’t get blade until level 38. I do like a challenge but it’s hard when this school has not the best damage) 7. Storm (This school is very boring and it also has the worst accuracy and health. I made my storm wizard before my new balance and my balance is already in Azteca while my storm is in Zafaria.)

I'm just now trying my first storm wizard since it's the only school I've never tried, and I totally see what you mean!! Kind of almost brainless gameplay. Thankfully I can quest with my bf so it keeps things more interesting

Right now I'd swap balance and life, balance is just as good a healer with pigsie (especially going life mastery rout) has tons of damage, and is much stronger in the support roll with near infinite blade and traps, storm just feels like if you took away fire's defense, so fair ranking, I move death lower because there is absolutely no thought to playing death, no matter what happens I can't really die or lose because everything I do hits pretty hard and heals me back to full hp (although this is coming from someone who is on zafaria with most schools and only 140 storm, gave up on storm cause it was impossible to solo the lvl 140 dungeon boss im currently stuck on)

the only thing i would change is storm is number 2 only bc its fun running quest with my friends and helping people i have every school max except ice but its level 148

Balance is actually cracked. i recently unlocked ww gear on my balance and i got 97 damage lol, and when i had to fight a balance boss my hydra one shotted him with only one of the three hits. Balance is really underrated. the only problem is that balance bosses take a long time to take down, since you need to use a lot of blades to set up a good hit with hydra/chimera. Other than that, balance is great and the power nova+judgement combo is almost broken.

Myth is the best school still hold that high in my heart even now as I been experimenting with fire, ice, and now life more cause my bf started with me! Proud Myth student at heart. Also Myth students usually have an awesome story arc cause they have to deal with a very strict professor.

Honestly they should shift Myths "gimmick" from minionw to the small hit big hit, like minotaur.

So, question and possible video idea... I am going through my first full playthrough of the game. I noticed at some of the popular farming locations that most of the wizards there are at the level of the dungeon, farming. This confused me as I thought farming was a thing that people did on high-level accounts for their lower level wizards. This was confirmed when my dungeon mate said they were farming for the hat, and he was level 60. So my question is, is marginally better stats worth the time to farm? I understand that people use the better gear to speed through the levels faster, but wouldn't you also save time by not farming. I might make people mad with this, but idk, farming seems like pointless, especially when you are constantly replacing gear through levels anyway. Idk, let me know if I'm wrong please.

Every fire wizard just uses meteor during team up which makes the fight quick, but it also prevents low levels from getting xp. This can also be said about storm and tempest. I feel like i'm the only fire wizard (level 50) who uses single enemy spells like sunbird etc. Combat xp is calculated like this for those who don't know: number of pips used multiplied by 3. 0 rank spells count as 1 pip towards xp.

Honestly Deaths a class i thought id never like, looked "too easy" and in a way it is. But it ended up being my over all favorite... its my main. I do have a storm. But i dont enjoy playing storm. I maxed it for the purpose of helping level my alts and for farming purposes such as couch potatoes... storms my farm stuff class thats all hes useful for with me. Lol ill always have a storm cuz quick easy farming. But death will always be my go to , my main for everything else. My every day to day use.
