This was remixed by Spiritbox with input from Megan so that's why there is no changes from Megan's side. Mike put together the music, then Courtney came in with that chorus which was only at the end. They sent it off to Megan & she gave notes, one of them being that the ending of the song should be the main chorus. This was done very quickly and was released the next day after Megan heard their cut. And that in itself makes this even more impressive. They really should colab for real on more songs.

Fr Courtney's part is like a manifestation of Meg's rage from being humiliated by her peers and kicked by her loved ones while she was down. It allows her to express her trauma from that era of her life from the safety net of someone else being the microphone or avatar for her

Courtney LaPlante is the singer. She does both cleans and the screams. Her husband, Mike, wrote the music and plays the instruments. Courtney says Thee Stallion is her favorite rapper. Beyonce is her favorite singer. If you want to hear a recently released clean, no screams, song by Spiritbox look up Too Close/Too Late. It's full of beautiful melodies. Or if you want to see Courtney doing cleans and screams in a studio setting but in one-take, no edits, look up 'Courtney LaPlante live one take" and click on Rule of Nines, or Circle with Me. If you click on Holy Roller, you're not going to be happy. It's all screams. And your little ears will not be able to handle it.

I def understand how the screaming isn't everyone's jam. But i felt the screaming brought forth the anger she may had been feeling. It's jarring and intense and not always comfortable for people, so maybe she wanted to portray that.

@@nameuser66 yeah not all rock has screaming, but that was such a minimal amount that anyone who listens to rock wouldn’t mind. Also Spiritbox isn’t a rock band. They’re a metalcore band, and they usually scream more than this, they toned it down since this was gonna be released to a more mainstream audience.

@@ImMsRKayBee it doesn’t matter if it’s “in your ear” when you’re the one who controls the volume. Plus it’s not just screaming it requires very specific technique and is extremely hard to master, it requires a lot of talent. Anyone who has any sorta vocal background understands how much talent it takes, and have level of respect for it.
