Dawn Duchess It’s a shame that it’s not regulated like entertainment and media union SAG/AFTRA is. For instance, Once you begin to work, and advance your career to a certain level , you start the process of joining the Sag/Aftra Union via Taft Hartley, (meaning that it’s your first work project in an acting position/role covered by a SAG-AFTRA (or AFTRA or SAG) collective bargaining agreement) ln other words, once you book your first union job (and it’s not as easy as alot of people believe), you’re SAG-AFTRA-Eligible to join the union) . Once you fully join the union , they fight for wages, working conditions, residuals, and pension and health benefits for its members. There should something similar in place when advancing your career in music as well.
