I love Notability. Here is another trick (because I hate my handwriting): Click on the scissors. Select a section of handwritten notes. Tap the section. Select ‘convert to text’. Voila! Easy to interpret text.

I didn't have an ipad but I also found being able to write directly on the powerpoints was the best way to write notes. I hated whenever the profs didn't post them beforehand and I just had to write on blank paper, it was way harder to make sense of them later when studying.

My high school gives us ipads for school and we use notability as well. I love taking notes on it and I do the same thing as you when preparing for a quiz - open a blank document and write out all my notes and stuff I need to know for the assessment !

I just bought my iPad Pro 11” few weeks ago to use in school and it’s the best thing ever, I wish it was there since my freshman year, I’m a senior graduating this semester.

This video was very helpful to me! At my school we get ipads and I take notes mostly on it in every class and just import the powerpoints into notability so I love seeing how different people can get with taking notes!!!

Megan, take the advice of someone who’s has a iPad since they started. Ditch quizlet, and use Anki. The app is expensive, but is way better at a practical way. Best way to test if you actually remember the content.

Same here been using my new IPad Pro 12.9 inch 3rd gen for college and notability is great. Definitely get the bigger one if you need more note taking space and do a lot of typing. I also feel the iPad is more useful for school.

I'm retired now, but spent most of my career as a professor in medical schools. I've noticed quite a few med students using iPads in my lectures, and now that I have the new iPad Pro, I love it. Ngl I'm pretty proud of myself because I saw the thumbnail and my first thought was 'Oh it's only Megan in this video' and I was correct and got the right twin! xD Also I agree with handwritten notes, it proven you actually learn better and remember more with the physical act of writing notes, so unless you struggle with something like dyslexia, for which a laptop/ typed notes can be extremely helpful, you should always try to only make handwritten notes, even on a iPad!

Really glad it's working so well for you. You could mention it also comes with Pages/Numbers/Keynote, or you can put on MS Office for writing your reports and presentations. You can also just use the camera if you want to take a quick picture of something your professor showing. Though, maybe your phone is more discrete for that and you can airdrop it into your notes. You might be able to run the voice recorder in the background too to record a lecture - only downside is using the pen will create a lot of tap noises. (check with your prof before recording though... some don't like it)

I get this I take notes on my iPad Pro for varsity for law . This is a lot easier then having to have so many papers getting lost . It also makes it more enjoyable as you are able to move things and highlight them and take photos and add them into your notes. I use GoodNotes however i recommend notability rather as you are able to record the teacher or lecturer , you cannot do this on GoodNotes . Keep going its so much easier

I have a regular 7th gen iPad and I absolutely love it! I wish I had enough money for the Pro, but the regular iPad works perfect along side my MacBook Pro

I would love to be a paperless student in college this semester because for starters, im always so disorganized with my notebooks & they get so messy in the trunk of my car plus this looks so easy to transition between typing & drawing or taking your own notes which seems so simplistic and ideal when it comes to actually studying because almost always im always looking at my typed notes & listening to my lecture audios rather than reading my own notebook notes.

I use Notability as well! It’s really helpful for some things like the scissors tool and I like the split screen feature.

I have an iPad too but I got the more affordable one, the 6th generation! I love it ! It was around $400 with the Apple Pencil. I currently just use it for my calculus class but hopefully I’ll be using it more next semester. I use good notes and I think I like it more than the note app you’re using but we all have our preferences.

I'm a doctor and I feel I have spent too much money trying to get papers for my notes and having my lectures printed. I used to not prefer soft copies of books just because of not being able to interact (i.e scribble my ass off) with it. When I studied I used to write 'google it' on my notes for my future self so I could google it when I review my notes. But now I feel like I have missed out on something which would have made my miserable life very easy! I did have tablet options before but those where hardly as responsive and were unfinished products really. Good luck with your career!

hey megan, keep in mind notability has a macbook and iphone app if you don’t have your ipad out when you’re walking to class but want to review your notes or if you want to see the powerpoint notes you wrote on a full screen and have the whole of your ipad screen available for taking review notes. hope that’s helpful :)

Just ordered the 12.9 inch!

I usually try to print the PowerPoint notes out so I can take notes just like you do. My geography professor will upload multiple sets of PowerPoints sometimes 86 slides long and every slide is usually overlapped and cluttered with photos and graphs etc. so I gave up mid semester. I just couldn’t print that many pages and keep them in a folder anymore, or spend hours condensing them before lecture. I really want an iPad Pro so that I can do this, but now I am unsure. I am about to be done with my general education courses at community college and will now be taking my magazine journalism courses at university. Therefore, I don’t know how much I will need it. I guess I will have to try a semester without it and see if I still want it once I get a feel for my courses. Thanks for this video, it was super helpful!

I started using Notability (and digital notetaking) a few days ago and there's something that bugs me ALOT! I want to backup my files because if I lose the iPad or something happens to it I still need to have all my notes! But when I back it up to my Dropbox the files are like a few MB large which is a problem because I only have 2gb of storage on my Dropbox! And then there's the issue of the folders: if you make a divider on Notability and a subject under it, only the subject will be backed up. How do you backup your files?? I loved your video and learned a lot!!

Hi! FYI I love watching your videos on the iPad about note taking! I do have a question... do you know of an app for the iPad Pro that could convert my own handwriting into “prettier” (lol) handwriting as I am writing? I have goodnotes; however, I don’t like the look of my own handwriting. So I am looking for an app or a way to convert my own when I write with an Apple Pencil into either calligraphy or another cute font, if that makes sense!
