I agree, it makes much more sense to summon Bahamut and Phoenix on cooldown for this reason, and it helps keep your rotation aligned (like keeping bahamut aligned with your 3% damage buff as well as energy drain and fester). The buffs of various classes are usually on similar cooldowns (eg. 2 minutes) so it’s not just your buff that you’re keeping aligned with your own burst phase; your Bahamut is possibly also taking advantage of RDM’s Embolden, SCH’s Chain Strategem, etc. In a static or other voice chat setting, party buffs and debuffs are intentionally used together where possible - which the game has also designed to be used during many class' burst phases - to ensure maximum output. And yay for big explosion pew pew!! 👍👍👍 That said, I just had a thought: In a dungeon, where you are often left with spare Arcana by the time Bahamut/Phoenix become available, would summoning whatever primals you had left just for their Enkindle, without wasting time using the Gemshine moves, be more beneficial than going straight to the big guys?

I mained a Summoner in ARR, and I loved it. I had to leave the game after that for around 5 years. Returning to the game to see the summoner changed made me very upset. I really hope they make a DoT mage.

SMN got reallyyy easy since Endwalker -- whether that's good or not is all about perspective lol. I like it better now, personally. SCH is still a bit trickier but with practice, it's learnable too c:

​@@Aitherea Sch unfortunately still has a lot of jank in it's design. Is it strong? oh extremely the numbers prove it, but theirs a huge difference between effectiveness and performance. Sch is definitely strong, but as someone who has played it I can say it doesn't feel good to play. Truthfully this a problem that all the healers currently have with sage being the one exception

@@jakelawrence6618 I /kind of/ agree with you. WHM would feel really good to play if we had mana or ogcd lilies. AST is fun but VERY busy and there's so much time spent throwing cards, esp since theyre charged now. Sage does feel pretty smooth but the heals seem weaker than SCH's (though mitigation is a bit easier to use and you have more options) and the delay on Pneuma is SHIT. Not only does it have a castbar but there's actually a delay for the animation before people are healed. It feels like how the SCH fairy does but actually worse since the fairy skills have no cast bar xD. I like SCH but I hate how it's easier to just throw up sacred soil than a single target mitigation for tank busters cuz casting :x meanwhile sage has options xD

​@@Aitherea This is just a problem all healers (sage exclude) currently have. Their effective, but they don't really feel intuitive to play, It's the main reason why I stopped playing DRK as it just feels clunky in almost everyway. It's a lot simpler in Endwalker. Open with Ruin III, use the recast window to pop Searing light and summon Bahamut. Energy Drain/Siphon (AoE situations only) Drift a few Astral Impulse GCDs before using your aethercharge on Fester as well as Deathflare and Akh Morn to allow for more raid buffs to jack up your damage then cycle your 3 Legos in any order with Ifrit being for times you know you can hardcast, then into Phoenix, cycle Legos, repeat. Obviously popping a potion after casting the Bahamut summon is optimal since the window is long enough, but you never explicitly need pots in a good party, it just cuts down on kill times a bit. Ignore this completely for anything lower tier than Extreme. When not using pots you can Searing Light a bit later, during the GCD window between Summon Bahamut and your first Impulse and double weaving it with Energy Drain. The only time in the entire rotation you need to stand still is when you spend Ifrit's 2 charges and like one Ruin III cast with standard spell speed. Otherwise it plays like a Phys ranged with AoEs that do more vs 3 or more targets. The job itself is super accessible since all of its core actions can fit on two standard hotbars discounting Sprint and Limit Break.

Aethercharge turns dreadwyrm grance, which then upgrades into summon bahamut. It gives you the same 15 second timer aethercharge gives you (only instead of buffing your ruin spells, it changes them as said on the video) and once the timer is up, you csn use your ruby, topaz and emerald arcanums, just like Aethercharge

You actually can keep him. Or change him for the egis. At level... at a certain point in the Summoner Job questline you get pet glamours, meaning you can chznge the models of the carbuncle to the other colored ones, or to the primal egis

This is the real optimal rotation. Sure you might pump out more potency faster from buffs with Titan > Garuda > Ifrit. But a real Summoner knows when to use each one best in a fight. It's like Diet Black Mage in terms of pre-positioning for Ifrit and I love that.

Just picked up 14 again and I’m leveling all my classes to at least 50 before I start Heavensward (I am very behind) and this really helped with my summoner because I was used to it before the overhaul.
