It's not often you get a close up view of a brand new megayacht like this. Built by Lurssen in Germany the mammoth vessel is one of the top 20 longest SuperYachts in the world.
Hope you enjoy the video.

There's a lot of camera's on the exterior of the vessel to compliment the situational awareness on the bridge as well as wing stations. A very interesting video indeed - and with one quick question. Do you happen to know the actual legal requirements pertinent unto the location of the forward mast? For instance, how far forward of the main mast, or superstructure lights, and how high does it have to be? Thanks again, Geoff Rohde

That is not a yacht...that is a Cruise Ship!

I think Rolls Royce showed off a concept that had the wheelhouse deep in the center of the ship and used cameras and displays to substitute for windows. I can see that concept taking off. Im sure the captains wont like it but the owners will appreciate the added guest space.

If I were the owner, the ability to sit in the back of the bridge from time to time and watch the bridge crew do their thing, would be one of the attractions of having a big yacht. I wouldn't do it all the time and make people uncomfortable, but I would consider it a part of the yachting life I wouldn't want to miss. If I would commission a ship like that, I would make sure that the fact that it is a ship would not be glossed over or hidden. I would want it to be a real Yacht, not just a swimming mansion, you know what I mean? The maritime, nautical aspect of it all would be important to me. I would want to experience the ocean, be near to it and experience life on a ship and everything that entails. Long story short, I would want to take advantage of the fact that I am on a yacht and would want to milk it for all its worth. Make the yacht life as "yacht-ey" as possible. Putting the bridge under deck to make room for just another bedroom would be the last thing I would want.

There are owners out there that love yachts and yachting but sadly many don’t actually like being at sea and often fly from A to B to miss the rough weather.

@@eSysmanSuperYachts Yeah. It seems for most of those super rich people owning a yacht is 100% a prestige thing and they don't really care about yachting culture and experiencing the ocean and all that. That new science fiction looking mega sailing yacht with the extremely high walls is an extreme example. Not even sure whether you can see properly through the "hidden windows" on that thing. It looks as if you basically have to climb up one of the masts to actually see the water.
