I signed up for this series and was hoping to change my mind about Meghan Markle. Sadly, watching this dialogue, this confirms that I've been right about her superficiality and pretentiousness. So hypocritical and artificial. Nothing about her promotes women's issues and inspires human advancement. Thank goodness Mellody Hobson was able to speak at times so my time was not a total waste. I was able to learn from her. A true leader and an inspiration.

Meghan said something very important- the parity of wages the workplace would build this country in significant ways. Women on average, still don’t make the same as men do. Mellody’s point about 3/4 of the people working from home pre pandemic were men, is surprising and pretty pathetic. I know a few women who were denied being able to work full time from home before the pandemic.

I understand the meaning of “word salad” now: the art of putting a few “key” words, big words, personal info and statistics together in sentences and phrases that sound good initially, but don’t mean much upon further inspection. Whereas Mellody’s comments made sense, were intelligent and easy to follow, and were grounded in years of experience. Mellody attracted me, to her and to her message. Meghan distracted me with her title, her jewelry, her privilege, her references to Harry & the royal family, and her constant need to tack herself onto the end of everything Mellody said, which annoyed me bc I wanted to fully hear Mellody.

She is talking about herself. Again. As usual. Blah, blah, blah. Why give her another platform.

One more thought. In Canada, paid parental leave is financed through our contributions to Employment Insurance. It isn’t a free handout. In order to draw paid parental leave from the coffers, one has to have contributed to the pot.
