Yep and the reverse can also be true. See that's why I hate this song because no matter how you look at it, it's *still* supporting that stupid Thin vs. Curvy battle which needs to stop. Bart hit the nail on the head in the video when he said that the massage should be that we're all equal, because it's true. Everyone has personal preference and that's fine, but the inarguable fact is that no one person is worth more than another. That's what Meghan should've been singing about, and if she would've just switched out a few lyrics for some more generally supportive ones, she would've gotten her message across just fine.

This parody tackles every issue with this song so well. Meghan's intentions with All About That Bass were good but the song ends up shaming women who aren't curvy or plus-sized and also tells women that in order to feel beautiful, they must be able to attract the attention of a man. It's unintentionally that way but is still wrong.

Even with "naw, I'm just playing," she assumes thin people have body image issues. She calls size two's "stick figures" and "silicone Barbie dolls," and she says that men like "more booty to hold," a.) validating herself through men's opinions and b.) once again throwing shade towards small women. I don't always like the Baker parodies, but I *adore* this one; it's spot on about her hypocrisy and oscillation between body positivity versus body shaming.

Mohammad Agreed, actually, on all counts. I think she just included a few lines that, unfortunately, disparaged skinny women in the process, which is the complete opposite of body positivity. Nothing wrong with being large or small; "the message should have been that we're all equal," "why are you basing your self-worth off of pleasing dudes?" and "you're actually normal" were spot on observations in this parody.

Yea that was not right of her,but there is still more fat shaminig then skinny shaminig. I have friend who is skinny and there were people who told her to eat more, but she is still far more confident about her body than me. She never had to listen to everybody telling her to go on diet or do sport or lose weight. I'm not confident in my body. I was starving myself multiple times the only thing that I like about my body us fact that I'm tall, and for some people is harder to lose weight. I lose weight and then gain it back. I tried everything and I seen way more fat shaminig. I don't like any shaminig but I think fat shaminig is worse than skinny shaminig. Sorry for bad english, english is my second language

the original song shames skinny women by insisting that it is better to have some weight then to not, even though some women can't help but be as skinny as they are just due to their genetics or their condition or whatever. case in point: one of the lyrics being "my mom said don't worry about your size because men like more booty at night". The song suggests that you shouldn't worry about being fat because, ultimately, having weight is what makes you more desirable then other women who do not have that. It's pretty much the complete opposite of the more typical problem. One of the beginning lines of this parody is spot on: "this songs message should have been we're equal" . . . but it's not. Let me put it this way: if you heard that this song was the reason why some women were trying to gain weight through unhealthy practices and diets, would you be surprised? this parody is ALSO supposed to point out the irony of Meghan, a beautiful and arguably perfect looking woman, is talking about fending off judgmental people as if she's had to deal with it before. Quite frankly, she's LUCKY to look the way that she does and it feels more like she's using this song to pander to a more unfortunate audience and pretending to be a victim of something she's never had to go through. that being said, am I in any position to talk about these things? Am I an expert on what Meghan's life was like? No. But the real irony comes in when you find out how this song was popularized: it was popularized by women who fit that description PERFECTLY. Women who are looking for support by PRETENDING to be strong but in reality they're using this as a means of looking like a victim. Basically, they WANT these problems because if they didn't have them, how else would they demonstrate their strength? If they were really as strong against their oppression as they say they are, they wouldn't HAVE to say anything. If they're so beyond the judgment of other people, why do they keep talking about it?

I think I'm the opposite of most commenters here. I normally hate Bart's parodies so don't really watch, but this one was spot on. Why is it okay for someone like Meghan Trainor to have a song that puts down skinny girls or Nicki Minaj to have a song that literally has the lyrics "If you're a skinny bitch fuck you", but if you dare to point out that being fat is unhealthy suddenly you're the monster. I think why everybody gets so hurt about parodies is that sometimes the things they put into the parodies are not true. They add things into these parodies that are lies and that isn't funny. I find the truth more enjoyable than lies. I can sit here and watch a parody about somebody I like and enjoy it as long as it's truthful. There are just certain things that are crossing the line, you don't need to lie to make a parody good.

I think about 15 million views on this video are me only, not even joking. Cant describe in words how awesome and epic this one is, actually been listening to it all week and decided i cant keep living life without commenting on this. Just super hilarious, and well made. how talented can you all be? For everyone defending the original song and denying it's skinny-shaming, I've broken it down for you: 1) "Because you know I'm all about that bass,'Bout that bass, no treble". -"ALL ABOUT" is not an inclusive statement. She is literally saying big is better (albeit indirectly so people who can't understand English properly miss the message). Whether she means it as a personal preference or a general statement is irrelevant; however, I bleieve the latter is true within the context of the rest of this song. So, skinny shaming statement #1. 2) "Yeah it's pretty clear, I ain't no size two But I can shake it, shake it like I'm supposed to do." -"SUPPOSED TO" directly implies that we shouldn't be anything else but fat. Skinny shaming statement #2. 3) "'Cause I got that boom boom that all the boys chase." This: a) objectifies women, and b) assumes (incorrectly) that guys only like fat chicks. "All the right junk in all the right places." -Skinny shaming statement #3, implying the "right" body shape is curvy. 4) "I see the magazines working that Photoshop We know that shit ain't real Come on now, make it stop If you got beauty beauty just raise 'em up 'Cause every inch of you is perfect From the bottom to the top.Yeah, my momma she told me don't worry about your size-" -This is the ONLY respectable part of the song. 5) "She says, boys they like a little more booty to hold at night." -Same thing as #3. 6) "You know I won't be no stick-figure, silicone Barbie doll So, if that's what's you're into Then go ahead and move along." -Line one is a direct insult toward skinny women, and her message can't be any clearer (skinny shaming statement #4). Lines two and three indirectly shame those attracted to skinny women. 7) "Because you know I'm all about that bass, 'Bout that bass, no treble I'm all 'bout that bass, 'bout that bass, no treble I'm all 'bout that bass, 'bout that bass, no treble I'm all 'bout that bass, 'bout that bass." -See #1. 8) "I'm bringing booty back Go ahead and tell them skinny bitches Hey." -The phrase "skinny bitches" couldn't be more direct. Skinny shaming statement #5. 9) "No, I'm just playing I know you think you're fat, But I'm here to tell you that, Every inch of you is perfect from the bottom to the top." -Unless you're skinny. It's laughably contradictory and hypocritical of her to make this statement after spending nearly the whole song up to this point stating otherwise. The rest of the song repeats what's already been said. Hopefully you people get it now.

***** Yes, it's sad. Both fat and skinny people are bullied for different reasons. I just wish women could start accepting each other regardless of how they look, stop listening to all the media BS, and see there's more to a person than looks. The real enemy is the media, ladies, not each other!

***** I'm sorry, but I disagree about the feminism bit. I'm a feminist and have never judged or discriminated against (nor advocated such to) others. Sexism is wrong. Period. Yes, there are some extremist feminists (that the media LOVES to put in the spotlight), but feminism itself is about equality and most feminists adhere to that belief. It would be akin to saying all Christians are Nazis or members of the KKK (obviously untrue). Talk to some non-extreme feminists; they are some of the most intelligent and kind-hearted people I've found on the internet. We need compassion for each other; many angry feminists have very good reasons for their anger. The same with fat and skinny people shaming each other; both sides are victims of the media and society brainwashing us all from day one (and objectifying women). We need to understand each other, put ourselves in others' shoes, and know that we are all human and we all have our hardships. We should focus our energy on the source of the majority of our struggles (society and the media as it currently is), instead of fighting each other.

***** Well, we can agree to disagree. The majority of feminists are decent people; men and women. I personally don't know of any who want "pay back", and I've been to several conventions and volunteer events. But you're entitled to your own views on the matter.
