One thing I’ve found with this design is that if you start colour B from the opposite end of your row rather than joining it to colour A when you finish the row, you can just carry both colours up the sides without having to cut & rejoin them every time. If you make a border around the edge, you can ‘swallow’ the ‘carry ups’ into the border.
@TeriDean3 ай бұрын
I was wondering if that would work! Thank you!
@JazzyJude3 ай бұрын
Forgive my ignorance, as I really want to do this idea. So your first row is color A, from right to left. Row 2, start Color B from right to left. At the end of row 2, draw up color A to finish last stitch. Turn your work and drop color B. Row 3 is all color A. But when I’m ready to change color to B at the end of the row, my working color B is at the other end? What am I doing wrong?
@ChocolateFantasies2 ай бұрын
@@JazzyJudeYou can do it like this: Row 1, Color A: right to left Row 2, Color B: also right to left Row 3, Color A: left to right Row 4, Color B: also left to right So basically you aren’t turning your work after the Color A rows. You will be starting your Color B on the same side that you started your Color A. Hope that makes sense!

Thank you, that's a great idea

@@JazzyJude it doesn’t really matter which end you start or finish. What I do is when I get to the end of the row with either colour, I just pull the last stitch into a long loop to prevent it unravelling whilst I am working with the other colour. When I get to the end of the colour A row, I do an extended double crochet into the top of the last stitch of the previous colour A row - yarn over, push the hook into the top of the last stitch, pull through one, pull through two, pull through two, & that seems to be tall enough to give a firm but slightly stretchy edge. When I get to the end of the colour B row, I pull the last stitch into a big loop to protect it from unraveling. On starting the colour B row, I pull the loop back down to size & pull it through the space between the last stitch I’ve just made in colour A & the first 3 dc group, & then pull through once, & then make two chain & carry on as normal with colour B. I hope that makes sense. It’s so much easier to show than explain…… I’ve been changing my colour B every 2 rows so I just end the colour I’m using by cutting, leaving a tail & pulling it through the last loop. I then just start with a new colour for the next colour B row.

That’s lovely. One little tip. When you are twisting the strands for the fringe, twist each set of three strands in the opposite direction to the twist as you wrap, & that will keep the twist in place, otherwise it will tend to untwist considerably when you release it after knotting it.

I think your design is very pretty. I don’t normally comment on brands of yarn, but you might want to seriously reconsider using wool ease for any future projects. I’m very careful with my projects that I make just like anyone would, it’s just that this particular type of yarn separated. The wool became separate from the rest of the yarn. All that work that I put into it and it was ruined. Actually this was the catalyst for change. I now only use certain types of yarn and my projects have been a much higher quality. Please don’t think I’m suggesting your projects are not. I’m only throwing this out as a caution so you don’t experience what I did. ❤❤❤

@@dianabulaga5599just saw your comment, thanks for the reply! I tried several different combinations of hook sizes and had issues every time.
