Mego James Bond "Jaws" Restoration

Restoring a Mego Jaws figure from the 1979 James Bond film Moonraker. I use the plasti-dip method on the head and then make a set of clothes so he's not in the noody.

Thanks, I had to make them really as the chances of finding loose clothes is almost impossible

No Action Man's chest is tiny compared to the Mego Hulk body they used for jaws

Very impressive work making the clothes! As for them not being original, if that's what you want to do, then why not? It's your collection, don't worry what other people think!

Impressive sewing skills!! Jaws is looking great. After watching your previous video on Plastidip I had to give it a go on my own Jaws - thanks for highlighting this technique 👍

Thanks I've e done a bit of sewing in my time but once you have a basic set of Mego patterns you can amend them quite a bit. The Plastidip method is absurdly easy to do :)

Oh I forgot about this until now, my mate had one and I didn't like the strange mouth. Would of liked to see shining chrome teeth instead.

Fantastic job Ian, I love the new clothes you made for him, especially the braces. As to your question about whether we should just be restoring using original parts then I think it is your toy and your choice as to how you restore it. I can see merit in both ways of doing things, it's nice to see things all original, but these days original parts can be exorbitantly expensive to the point of being out of reach to a lot of collectors. The gauge should always be that you are happy with what you have, and then let other people worry about their own opinions of it.

Thanks. Yes wise words indeed. The only time I think it might become iffy is if someone tried selling a restored figure as original and genuine parts but I suppose the old Caveat Emptor rules then apply :)

@@imarmodels Yes indeed you will always get some who will try to pass things off as original when they are not, but I think for the most part people are pretty genuine about these things. I imagine this is more of a problem in toy ranges that have become so popular that prices are far more expensive than most. I guess there is always a quick buck to be had for some where things are popular and collectors are desperate to have an item. As you said it does behove the buyer to do their research on what they may be buying as far as is possible not just because they might be duped, but because the sellers don't always know what they are selling and may well miss-describe items too. I suppose that I will often buy items in need of being restored, so that I know what is original and what is not when they are completed. I don't intend to ever let any of my collection go, but I would always make sure that anyone buying from me knew what was original and what isn't.
