Wouldn't we all like to have tennis forehands like Carlos Alcaraz or Iga Swiatek?
Well, they might still be a little out of reach, HOWEVER, if you focus on the two components that all great forehands have you can significantly increase your forehand power.
In this video, I'll show you how to use your entire body to generate energy and HOW TO effectively unleash it for more mph's!
Using a deeper coil and loading your legs will give you more pop on the ball!
THANK YOU, @SlowMoTennis, for allowing me to use your footage. Go check them out, incredible videos of the pros!

I agree as usual. One problem often occurs : the fear of making mistakes leads players to restrict their swing, to focus a lot on the arm/the hand, crisped to increase control/precision. There must be a letting go state of mind and an acceptance of mistakes to swing fully and freely. That was to make a little association mental/technique 🙂 Besides that, I'd be curious to have your point of view concerning rythm ; we often talk about the swings, forgetting there's an incoming ball, sometimes slow, sometimes fast, with which the swings need to be synchronized.

This is precisely my situation. During practices , i swing freely. But when i am in matches i tense myself up

Very good point. Playing tons of practice matches help so that playing points where something is at stake becomes more normal. And yes, you have to adjust to every ball differently which is what makes tennis so hard!

@@rotcivhp In matches, aim not to win the match, but instead aim to hit as many aggressive shots with good form and relaxed focus as possible, and the winning will take care of itself.

❤the tips. And love the wrist bit at the end😂. Another thing which should be demystified is the stay low and imagine a ceiling above the head in ground strokes. It not only robs the power from the legs but also put a lot of stress on the knees.

Great video Mieke, yup, I was taught the same way in the ‘70s. Straight back, straight thru, stay sideways, stay down. I struggle now in 2 ways trying to revise my forehand: 1)using my legs to raise up and use the ground. When I do this I often top the ball. 2) when I bring my left arm to say a 3 o’clock position I’m often late and don’t get it out of the way in time to make shot. I feel too rotated. Thoughts?

Yes that is correct. Don't forget yelling Parfait(e) [Perfect in French] when hitting a good shot. For added power, instead of grunting, yell parfait at contact. (just kidding)

Yes body. 100%. But I use my wrist/ keep it flexible - while also swinging through getting my elbow up to my nose - I get a lot of spin/ power this way (not muscling). Same w/ serve - I keep my wrist loose so it naturally 'snaps' w/o muscling it or putting pressure on my shoulder. I'm not forcing my wrist/ but it's def part of the chain.

Hi Mike, I hope everything has been ok with you since we last spoke. Can you believe that it's been 9 months since my Mother left us and despite everything being resolved between the children/brothers a long time ago, the process is still not finished ?! I don't know if it's a problem at the country level or if it's widespread and goes beyond borders. This causes life, namely Tennis (racquets etc etc) to walk with a significant delay. After the outburst and the nostalgia that remain forever, let's go to the video: It's true that recreational players tend not to dismantle the strokes as a powerful forehand and realize that the basic principles are all there. I usually use a help that makes it a lot easier, which is to reduce the video playback speed to 0.25 for example. The video is very well conceived because it explains in detail how to execute this stroke in order to generate power correctly and efficiently, which is already a trademark of yours. Thanks Meike, and have a very pleasing weekend !

Just remember all you other club players like me , if you get loaded and sink down before driving up, if you are new at this way of hitting forehand you must have really good timing or you come up too soon, get too much of top half of the ball, thus into the NET !!! Also if you never had a good hip turn and now you are trying to do it for more power, spacing is super critical or watch your ball go LONG !!! You guessed it, my forehand was garbage tonight for both those reasons !

I was taught the same calm forehand style. At least that's what they tried 40 years ago. So, to all parents out there, beware of old coaches! They might teach your kids how to play a wooden racquet properly. But nothing else.

On the closed stance does the right hip come through during contact or after contact? It seems if the goal is more power wouldn’t it be at contact? If the goal is balance seems it would be after contact.

Very easy to theorize and illustrate when you're standing still, but seeing you run for a shot while illustrating would be far more realistic because footwork very much affects how you execute this in a practical situation.
