I've only came across this today in '24 after a student hipped me to it. This is Vodou! It's a ok for people not to like it. Great musical expression will enthrall others and have other withdraw. That's the nature of the beast. This attitude reminds of Pharoah Sanders in the modern era. Total amaze-balls. #_#

Not enough likes... i don't get it... the more you listen to this, the more complicated it reveals itself to be. Damion did a hell of a job on this.

Was just tweeting this (again) and said: This is one of my favourite songs. That snare is so crisp yet a little reverbed. Lovely hint of smoke on the drum sound. He's playing with us with thme polyrhythms, though!

I agree with Luka (the feel alternates between 7 and 5 notes in a beat while keeping the tempo intact). There is however a part where both superpose : from around 2:43 the drums and the djembe clave play together and alternate between a 7 ( 2:43 ) or a 5 ( 2:50 ) subdivision of the beat (each feel lasts for 8 beats before returning to the other feel and so on), but the feel of the piano is constantly 5. So every 8 beats or so, it gets really weird (you'd need to divide each beat in 35th to know exactly where every septuplet and quintuplet notes are relative to each other : at this speed I'm not sure it's possible for a human brain (!?!) but the computer does it so I guess Damion hangs on to the Djembe clave (?) or he can count crazy fast in his head) Also : From around 1:55 to 2:40, looks like there is a polyrythm in the sense that the motif the piano is playing contains 14 (2x7) notes played in quintuplets, so it should fall back with the beat every 5 times the motif is played. But I didn't count, so let's enjoy the music :)

Check out the track "Insides" by Jon Hopkins if you like the feel of these minds of grooves. Jon is more melodic and textural than this I'd say.

Weird ass song. But, damn dude, if that snare was any tighter it probably distort reality. Interesting, creative, great control, terrible over all track. Would love to see more though. Also, loved that sneaky little blast, ;).
