Compare that to the early 2000s where the personal tastes of people like DJ Pinye determined whether one's music was listened to or not. Like Iko Nini likes to remind us, the relative success that Kenyan music is enjoying compared to the past has not happened by chance. It has happened because the internet has gotten rid of gate keepers like DJ Pinye.
