*I'm deaf in my right ear which is why I'm not wearing headphones. I know, it's a bummer not to get the panning sounds. It's also been a bummer to only have one ear my whole life for lots of other reasons, like, playing telephone growing up, I was terrible at it. actually, crybaby is supposed to be nine here. pity party is her ninth birthday, hence the number of candles on the cake. she invited all her friends and family, but still no one came. thats why she has a very childlike aesthetic in this video, more so than her others, at least. this is the first time we know her age since the very beginning. the things she mailed was a stack of invitations, btw.

@Dl. Fânutz wdym? the Crybaby album says nothing about school. if you're thinking of K-12, no, it starts in kindergarten (about 5yrs) and ends in her senior year of HS. K-12 doesn't pick up where Crybaby ended, it starts back near the beginning.

This is basically when cry baby loses her mind, after suffering a lot then no one appearing to her birthday makes she out of control of her emotional. This makes her vulnerable to what's coming next. ps: I'm sorry english is not my first language. Next is Tag you're it/milk and cookies double featured again.

It's a bit hard to follow a story line for this concept album becuase alot of videos were filmed under different circumstances, Carousel and Dollhoise being old videos from the previous EP and Soap being rerecorded. I cant imagine someone just starting this expecting a full story without knowing melanie and alot of her concepts.

All of melanie’s song have a meaning for cry baby and meaning for real life so there will always be multiple meanings as well as multiple interpretations because everyone understands music differently. The book is cool but don’t feel forced to purchase it for us. Buy it only if you want it. Keep up the awesome reactions

The lyric, "It's my party and I'll cry if I want to," is a sample from Lesley Gore's 1963 hit song, It's My Party.On one of the invitations, the person being invited is Johnny. This references the original song where johny is lesley's boyfriend and we think that melanie named the guy in soap and training wheels after lesley's song. When Cry Baby is waiting for her friends to show up, there are presents on the lower right, despite the fact that no one came to her party.there are 9 candles on crybabie's cake making us assume that she is nine. In this video, Cry Baby had smoked a cigarette. It is assumed that this was influenced by her Mom.no she isnt in her twenties she is still a kid

I really like your interpretation, yeah. Knowing the entire story by now, I know the song and video are literal, because it was a single of her álbum, it was made before the other songs in the album. This one is quite literal, she made some invitations to her birthday party including the guy she likes, Johny (the one from training wheels), but no one came. So she's alone waiting for everyone and ends up throwing a pity party for herlself and going insane because she is alone. Next videos are Tag, You're It/Milk and Cookies because they are a double feature. They are the continuation of Pity Party! Cant want to watch you react to them!

Cry Baby: make us meet the protagosnist of the history (called Cry Baby), the one who has a big heart and everyone is bad to her because of that Dollhouse/Sippy Cup: Show the Cry Baby's awful family and explain the reason why she cry all the time Carousel: Show Cry Baby in love for a person, but this relacionship is toxic and just run in circles (like a carousel) and don't go to anywhere Alphabet Boy: Talk about Cry Baby ending the relacionship with the guy that she was in love and saying he think is smart than her and she is nothing Soap: She falls in love with another guy but she speak to much about her past and make him scared Training Wheels: They two try this relacionship and try deal with her and him differences... but in the end he just disappear Pity Party: Is her birthday and no of her friends go to her party, and she cry alone in her pity party that is my analysis about the songs hhaha

Carla I know, I kinda feel people shouldn’t have told him that the album was a story. He tries too hard to connect the stories that he overthinks even the simple videos. He like starts to go the right way but then tries to connect them. He is still really good about it though and the reactions are fun

The song and the video is basically about no one coming to her birthday party. And if you saw if you saw in the beginning, on the invitation it has Johnny on it. The boy from Training Wheels. Also the screaming is not on the audio, its just in this video.

Eyyyy! I do like the new graphic, though it may also be because my name is involved in it. Lol. Glad to support though! Also, I am extra happy that this was on a Melanie Martinez reaction because I really love her stuff! I think this is one of the songs that I'd actually heard on the radio that led to me checking her out on youtube and going through her whole album. It's super catchy, but also just super relatable because we inevitably throw pity parties for ourselves at times and it's fun to jam out to a song that helps make us feel like we're not alone in that. Great reaction as always!

I never liked this song, just because it was too triggering, being that I was one of those kids who had that experience of no one I invited coming to my party, even though we rented a party room at this fun, popular place, and everything. XD It sucked.

the "it's my party and I'll cry if I want to" was inspired by the song you're thinking of. Melanie has a soft spot for oldies music and 'It's My Party' is a classic. [: and I think, in my opinion, this song is pretty much face-value. she sent out invitations to her birthday party to her school class and literally no one showed up and she's sad about it.

The song your referring to is Leslie Gore's it's my party released in 1963. The song Neccessary Evil by Motionless in White goes: It's my party and I'll die if I want to. They all sound weirdly similar, but Melanie's song came out in 2015 and Motionless in White came out with theirs in 2017. All of them were probably inspired.

I thought it was a really interesting take on the song. I’ve never really looked at it in a way that had more meaning, and this song has always been the one that stood out to me as being without an underlying metaphor. This is the first time I’ve really seen that message of her putting herself out there and having no one show up for her in a relationship or within her family.

And then there was my sister stealing my best friend and my other friends kinda excluding me then the year my dog died in my birthday and the same year where only 1 friend could come and my sister stole her and this uear... wear in the middle of my party I cried in a bathroom last year is its whole own merely of shitty experiences
