You guys nailed it with all the places you visited! Love seeing my city from someone elses view. The houses you're talking about are from the Victorian era and are common in Sydney as well, usually near the CBD. They are heritage listed and usually you can't structurally change the facade, they're so gorgeous

Those houses you were looking at are Australian Victorian Terraces - they look different from the ones in England, but they were designed by British architects to resemble 'Home'. Our Georgian homes look really plain compared to the beautiful iron details on the Victorian builds, but are dotted in between throughout our old suburbs.

Thanks Hannah for sharing your trip with us, hope you’re loving Oz and not missing your own little roo too much 😊 Interesting what you said about the style of the houses as I’d have said “colonial” (rather than Georgian) but I looked up both and it’s around the same era, late 1700s/early 1800s 🤷‍♀️ It all looks fabulous, enjoy exploring Kenny’s homeland and practising your Aussie pronunciation! 😘

Those houses are known as Victorian Terraces, pretty typical in Melbourne and Sydney inner suburbs. They are pretty cool.

Yes and everywhere in Tassie too!! We Do have Georgian style houses in Tassie though, probably more than a lot of other states. Of course they're not true Georgian because they were built much later! Australian homes aren't THAT old 😅

Making me want to go back to Melbourne sooo bad. I love Fitzroy, used to live at the top of that road with all the boutiques. next time you’re there Vegie Bar is THE best. Also Kenny is classic Aussie. All the stuff you say reminds me of my partner so much. Swearing, inappropriate jokes and food hogging, oh and the pie 🥧 🤣

I live in England now and have done for many years. Recently I had an Aussie moment where I went into a UK shop and asked for something I couldn't find on the shelf. I was told it was out of stock. I then said, thinking out aloud, hmmm, ok perhaps I should go to Woolworths and see if it's there. The shop assistant and my partner both looked at me weirdly and for the longest minute, I didn't know why 😂
