We put the screws on the high Part of the profile on that corrugated roof metal. Apparently it lasts longer and the Water naturally wants to go down so the flat spots are never screwed so Water doesent stay there. But putting the screws on the high spots needs careful attention so they dont get over tightened so they dont crush the metal.

I've heard of some people doing it that way but have never tried it myself ... but it makes sense! Nice to have some cover for the Ford tractors :)
@WorldPowerLabs

The screws tend to "ratchet" out more due to thermal expansion and contraction over time when they're driven through the ridges, since they can't be drawn down as tight as in the flats. I have roofs done both ways.

With this video being over a year old now you’ve probably had a little time to evaluate the foil faced reflective insulation under the metal roofing panels. What do you think? It appears to be similar to the ‘reflectix’ brand & its job is to do just that - reflect the sun’s heat back more than it is to hold & insulate the barn’s heat ( or cool ) inside. I’ve heard good things about this reflective barrier. Hopefully it’s working well for you & it’s expense has been justified!
@metaspencer
@metaspencer 9 ай бұрын
Yeah it seems to be doing it's job, though I've gotta cut out a vent at the ridge to let air flow a bit better ... On a regular barn I wouldn't add it but with this heated building I think it's worth it. simple to install but kinda pricey

Why foil and tin? Sounds loud? Rain. Why not 3 1/3 inch plywood and a regular roofing material? I'm looking at building my home with Containers. So watching videos.
@metaspencer
@metaspencer 7 ай бұрын
I've put on a lot of roofs over the years and prefer tin because of how it goes on and how well it lasts. Yes it's loud in the rain, but that doesn't bother me. Your plans sound exciting!

Why are u screwing ur roofing screws into the valleys of the sheet metal?
@metaspencer

With this pitch I don't worry about the valley screws leading to leaks and prefer the SOLID connection valley screws offer compared to ridge screws. But some do it the other way for sure.
