As Highlighted by Mellisai Mannar MSV and as explained by GS Mani Sir, we could feel the subtle variation in the pitch of TR Mahalingam and AP Komala and notice the CharaNams sound like Valaji when sung by AP Komala and Aabogi when rendered by TRM. Generally, we cud feel much similarities between Aabogi & Valaji, Aabogi & Sri Ranjani and Aabogi vs. Sri Ranjani vs. Karakarapriya. What's more significant in this film was all the songs were first written by KaNNadasan and then tuned in by MSV. That's really great, especially for a classical song like this. We can't just imagine that such a beautiful carnatic Raaga based song cud be composed very nicely this way - giving it a light melody colour. Great!

Kannadasan was the producer of this film Maalaiyitta Mangai and he reportedly told MSV that he should compose tunes only for his pre-written lyrics, otherwise he would change the music director. So, MSV (MSV-TKR) took up the challenge and composed the tunes for all the songs in this film only after lyrics were written first. This's what I read in books (including a Book written by Kannadasan himself) and watched in TV Interviews given by MSV.

Kaviarasar Kannadasan wrote the lyrics first. But KK wrote this particular lyrics for the film " mahadevi ". Many felt mgr will not fit into the song. So KK thought of using this song in his own film " maalai itta mangai ". Then came the challenge to the mellisai mannargal. How beautifully they composed music for this song is well known. Both are jambavans. They made trm & apk sing this song. It is history today. many will endorse this point.

கவியரசர் எழுத மன்னர்கள் இசை அமைத்த பாடல் போல தோன்றவில்லை. யாரை புகழ்வது என்று தெரியவில்லை. ஆனால் கூண்டு கிளி எடுத்து கொஞ்சினேன் என்று நாயகி சொல்ல இதழ் கோவை என் நினைத்து கொண்டதோ என்று நாயகன் பாட காதில் தேன் பாய மனதில் ஆனந்தம் பெருக உடல் ஆனந்த தாண்டவம் ஆடியது.

Kannadhasan wrote this song for Mahadevi but actor MGR didn't like it and instead was replaced with the song Kanmoodum Velaiyilum. Kannadhasan then reintroduced this song in Maalai Itta mangai, his own production.
