In this video i demonstrate how we can use simulation nodes in geometry nodes to create an effect where it feels like we are melting objects in blender . So its a melting effect created using geomerty nodes.
We also use geometry nodes to create a collision constrain for particles

Hey... thanks..I am glad u liked the video..for the material there is not much there ..I am using the distance of the sphere and saving it in a named variable..which is then used in the shader editor to change the emission strength..I also added a little noise in it to make it dynamic

Use a different object like a cube and drop it from above

Will it melt an animated character? Are you interested in doing that in a a gig for me?

Hello....yes it should work just fine with the animated character as well..just make sure that u are animating the effector object accordingly...also unfortunately I don't have the bandwidth to work on it for you...but the tutorial should give u the general idea
