The best way to unwrap your crayons and save a ton of time is by.... soaking them im some warm water for a few minutes. They wont melt and the wrapper just slipps off:)) Great job and I enjoyed this video:)) Keep them coming!!

Fun project, thanks. An aside: Most thrift stores sell crayons in the hundreds for almost giveaway prices. one can also get old prints, paintings etc. still on the frames for under $5 and use this as your canvas. Your ‘Melted Masterpiece’ is then instantly ready to hang on the wall. Thrift stores also often have soft and hard pastels, ‘ready to melt’.

How could you protect it so it lasts a long time? Would that mod podge stuff work?

A couple of other ways to do this that actually makes much more interesting patterns is to light the paper at one end of the crayon, it will burn like a candle wick and then you can start dripping wax droplets here and there, if you make some puddles they will take a few minutes to harden, then do the same thing with 1 or 2 other colors and they will swirl together. Once you practice this you can do some very groovy stuff. Alternative 1. Break up multiple crayons on to a wood board or even cardboard. if you put that in the oven for a few minutes you will get some interesting effects. Next project, shave or break into tiny pieces, the crayon on to a T-Shirt, Jeans, whatever, Flip over some of the material on top of it and then Iron it. Once the wax is cooled peel off the wax and the colored oils will dye your shirt with some funky patterns.. ta
