Mostly paper. 5€ coins do exist, but they're commemorative and not in circulation. I live in Slovenia, EU, I'm a coin collector and I haven't ever even seen one of those. Anyway they can be made of gold, silver or some particular alloy, it depends on the particular coin as they're very different. The coin you can see in the video however is 0,1 € - not rare at all. It's made of nordic gold - an alloy of 89% copper, 5%aluminium,5%zinc,1%tin. So how is your question even relevant to the argument?

but there is an exception for euro coins: if you use it for craftsmanship or art purposes, you can "destroy" them - so for example if you want to make a ring out of it, it is completely legal but the action in the video "just melting it for fun" is probably not covered by this. btw: in some countries the destruction of a coin is pretty much the same as burning the flag or insulting the head of state and counted as high treason. in the usa is something similar applied to bank notes

It is illegal to destroy currency, but not in forced. The mark isn't current money and not worth much so would be a good thing to make pretty jewelry with if you didn't melt it and destroy its beauty. I love old coins of all kinds.

Point is this is not money, its currency, to be accurate, its Fiat currency. Before 1923 gold coloured coins actually had gold in them, and silver coloured coins were 92% silver.
