There was a slight easier version involving a portable electroplating set up. Someone actually made such a set up from Legos, just to electroplate plastic parts.

빠우를 쳐서 광을 더 낸다든지 접합면을 에폭시나 플라스틱 퍼티로 바른후에 샌딩을 한다던지 마감에 조금 더 신경쓰면 작품될듯

처음부터 왁스카빙이 아니고 건담모형을 토대로 주물 뜬거입니다. 왁스카빙은 직접 왁스를 갖고 조각해나가는 것입니다.

For that to work he'd probably have to cast the armor pieces in steel, and the poly caps out of brass.

@ haha, I guess one way to counter that would be to... recast parts in some polymer or resin using a mold and then using those parts instead of the original.

これはロストワックス鋳造という技術で金型をコピーするものではない。あと日本人でも同じことをして動画を上げている人がいます。

パーツから型取りして金属素材でコピーして組み立てただけじゃん！コピーした金属パーツを部材として別の物を造形するか、削り出しや叩き出して作り上げるならまだ分からなくも無いけど、微妙・・・

Now, this is the true RX-78-2 Gundarium alloy! Unlike the real ones who use plastic aNd sell it for 2000$ this one literally uses legit metal.

I think it the original remain covered completely in brass.

The original plastics are melted off in the crucible at 4:56. It's also the same process with wax casting otherwise the metal won't reach where there are still plastic/wax and will cause an imperfect casting

Wow! I am gobsmacked! I've never seen anything like this before. He has fantastic skill, great hands and patience. But could someone explain to me is he a famous artist in his home country and how long did it take to make in real time (it must have taken hundreds of hours) and how much the finished model is worth please. It was burned out when the three molds were placed in the kiln.

I wonder where the plastic went? Sure its melted in kiln when they are hardening the gypsum. But where it goes? Cant be vaporized to air

Ceramic hardens on it's own. The kiln completely incinerated the plastic to gas and very small amount of ash.

I was thinking maybe he should have casted those too. And then assemble using some type of grease.

@@depshallburn the modeler is good and he put a lot of effort on his work. Maybe thats the limitation of the recast. The material used on the joints may not handle the recasting process reason why he left it out as is.
