Yes, and while it was a proud moment, I felt sad and let down by the fact that she didn't bother to mention even a single Pakistani artist, not even Mehdi Hassan who inspired her and whose song she covered which landed her in President Obama's playlist and eventually got her the award.

mehram isn't typically a "break up" song. The word mehram has a deeper root that correlates to defining blood relations like your father, brothers, grandfather etc according to our religion. The song talks about all the unsaid things between two people, even though they are related by blood doesn't mean they were close enough to share them but now that they are gone the narrated is stuck in the loop of the same memory of not having said what they wanted to. It's like the family dinemics within a home, we know how much our parents or kids traumatise us, mentally or physically but some things we often don't say because they are family and then regret appreciating their existence of being alive a nd well in the end. Hence why all the things in the "home" (in the video) are covered as the one who once stayed there have left.

hey guys, it's not a breakup song, it's actually about death, the main singer asfar lost his wife earlier and that's where the emotions came from. she was forever gone.

No you are wrong, I don't know where you got this story from but please check before making such claims. The song is most certainly about breakup and no such incident took place with Asfar. There is an interview in which he has described in detail how the song came about and how it was written.

Translation of the words in the song was not correct, due to which the desired reaction was not achieved. An Islamic word " Mehram" was used in the Song, Which was not Translated Correctly & That's why Tissue box couldn't used 😄
