This episode took a quite the turn. Veil not being able to save the assassin's makes sense because she herself is an assassin and she did a good job out of instinct, attacking her targets in such a way it's hard to render medical aid.

Just imagine that strike to the head, oof. But genuinely, during the fight I was already wonderin if we just encountered the main character of Season 5 or something with these random NPCs xD. GUESS NOT! lol

Well😅, this season certainly hit its stride in episode 4. Holy crap was i glued! Speaking of hitting it's stride, loving the refinement of the combat mechanics.

Great episode as always 👍 SPOILERS BELOW! I just find it real funny that Veil tends to really go for the lower body area, especially the legs when she stabs someone LOL. I even checked back on Season 3 and sure enough…she stabbed Edbert in the foot during their fight LOL

I feel like I’m starting to get more of a grasp on the combat mechanics and loved seeing you get to use the altered scene table! ✨ Crazy how much Mythic can switch things up with such elegance and simplicity yet so much impact!

This episode really showcased some cool mechanics! Loved the partial parry, stabbing past the shield, and the chase mechanic. Plus the altered scene was satisfying.

Very cool.... I feel like there's a heck of a lot more intrigue in this season.... season 1 and 3 featured a heck of a lot more epic action, but this one seems to be balancing intrigue, social interaction and action. But that's cool.... it's keeping the action focused on Thragg and Veil which is cool. Love the action encounter in the inn..... so scary. :)

Really cool episode. The only thing you forgot is the poisoned wound from the fight and whether it still has any effect afterwards.

Thanks. I didn’t forget- the poison didn’t take effect. She *will* have to heal that 3 pt wound to the chest, though. That’ll be next episode.

The Pulp Action is really well paced. Three obstacles (minimum), each with consequences for the following element. The PCs did not escape unscathed. What other dangers will they face before they have an opportunity to recover?

There can be said a lot about the effort to do all these little rolls, but I really like the granularity that spring forth from them. Really curious about the full rule set, with just the details we have from these episodes I always forget something and can't really predict what do to next and what I have to expect.

I feel like spending resolve after a roll is super powerful. Imagine if someone has a skill of 58 and rolls a 63. Spending just one point of resolve turns a failure into six degrees of success

You have to *succeed* at the roll in order to spend resolve on extra SLs. Otherwise you can only re-roll.

I was pleasantly surprised that the fight scene conjured images of Xena for me. But are we just going to ignore the fact hat Veil got hit wit a poisoned blade? Maybe it'll get addressed now that they have a place to hole up. I fgured I'd mention it though since we know Trevor forgets details like that sometimes.

She has to deal with a 3-pt puncture wound to the chest, which she will as soon as she gets situated at a safe inn. As we saw in the episode, the poison didn’t take effect, thankfully.

I would think that a successful parry (die roll 05) should still garnish some benefit. Otherwise, what is the difference between this level of parry and a fail? I would imagine a success attack die roll 04 would be avoided. My thought, a successful parry, no matter the roll, would give the person a minimum of 1 success pt.

Using the one's die for hit location seems to limit your ability to critically hit certain locations, if I'm understanding it correctly. You'd need a skill of at least 77 to critically hit location 7, 88 for location 8, etc. Or do crits work different for to-hit rolls?

When you crit, you get bonus “crit” effects. Also, you can always spend SLs to choose location.

Would you recommend The Broken Empires for a solo player new to rpg and dice games in general? Will it ship to the UK?

Thanks for asking, Matthew. In all honesty, if you’re brand new to RPGs, I probably wouldn’t recommend my game as your first one. It’s not really designed for beginners, although one of my first games was Rolemaster - and if a beginner can grok that beast, then The Broken Empires would be a piece of cake ;) As for shipping, all of that is handled through the Kickstarter pledge manager and the fulfillment company, so as far as I know UK based customers can get it.
