In 1988 Seoul Olympics Ben Johnson took steroids and run snd won easily but later the gold medal gave it Carl Lewis who came second and Christie of GBR got silver and smith got bronze . Johnson ran 9.73 with the help of anabolic steroids and Lewis 9.92 and in 1984 Lewis ran in finals 9.99 and got gold but in 2021 olympics everyone in finals are below 9.99 and don’t take the two disqualified in finals . That means if Carl Lewis running that 1984 Los Angeles race he’ll be last in Tokyo . Probably out in semis either .

He was still really fast his 9,77 in 2013 was agains't headwind and rain. So it could been 9,67s-9,70s in better conditions. His 200m 19,55s in 2015 could been sub 19,5s without celebreting. His 9,84s in semi final 2016 easing down is good too and 9,88s earlier thah year could been 9,65s without really bad start and easing down again. His 100m final time was on 9,81s cause he was tired. He was slow at the start they only had couple hours to rest in that event which affected a lot. His 200m ran 19,78s he was really tired too and no one else didn't even break 20s.

What a way to win. The odds were against him; Gatlin was the favourite by far and had the world lead that year; in the semifinals, Bolt's race nearly collapsed and Gatlin, once again, had the lead overall. Yet, come the big occasion, the men's 100m final, Bolt somehow managed to deliver. Surely, as the saying goes, "Cometh the hour, cometh the man". Usain Bolt is indeed the "best of the rest". However, when I heard that he would compete in London I perked up. At that meet he ran 9.87 twice on the same day. I knew then as he still had a few weeks to sharpen up so I just kicked back. To the person commenting on Gatlin having so many silver yes, but the TIMES recorded for these races are far more important. Even the bronze medalists(2) came in at 9.92 which is great. Usain and all the young men are just running a LOT BETTER AND A LOT FASTER.

The best moments for me in this race is when the picture of the moon that NASA and company says is million of miles away (which the camera showed is just up there in the Firmament , you almost could touch it and 2 seeing a supremely confident Terrence Bromell (the almost guy) was at the finishing line with the Stars and Stripes to give to Gatlin on finishing second , I couldn't get this image off my mind

This was for me one of Bolt's most impressive performances from a mental standpoint. He was able to step up his form and take the win despite not being in great form and pretty under-raced coming into these championships; however, I do think that Gatlin probably should've gotten the win. He'd been the form athlete coming into these championships and looked very relaxed running a faster time than the winning mark in the semifinal. Unfortunately, the pressure got to him; and his form fell apart as Bolt and the finish line closed.

Positive wind in semi final whereas -0,5 wind in final. Bolt win time would probably transtale probably 9.76s with same wind as semi final.

Mad to think Gatlin ran 9.77 in the semi's before this race. Mike Rogers ran 9.86 in the semi's as well. And couldnt produce a similar time.

Bolt injured and in the worst form of his career runs a 9.79 into a -0.5ms headwind. Gatlin didn't flop. This was essentially as fast as he can ever run, his PB (9.74, +0.9 wind) adjusted to a similar -0.5 wind is basically a 9.80. He just knew he wasn't far enough ahead and tried for more in the last 20m, which simply isn't possible-that's what happens.

You are crazy. Gatlin ran 5 9.7 times in 2015. A record.😅😅
@malligrub
@malligrub Жыл бұрын
@@chamindujanith6337 That's the point, as I wrote, this is about as fast as he can run and he ran it again in the final here. All his fastest times when adjusted for wind come to around 9.77-9.8s. His most impressive performance was probably his 9.77 into a -0.3m/s headwind. He didn't flop and choke here as the commentator insinuated. He just hit his usual max level and at 80m realized it still wasn't enough
@chamindujanith6337
@chamindujanith6337 Жыл бұрын
@@malligrub I'd say Gatlin was capable of 0.4/0.5 more. But this is not choking. Choking is someone like Asafa Powell regularly running below his potential in major championship finals and only ever breaking 9.9 once in a major final. The cherry on top is the 2007 final. He completely lost it in the second half of that race.
