Japan completed a glorious men’s race walking double at the IAAF World Athletics Championships Doha 2019 courtesy of a commanding performance by world leader Toshikazu Yamanishi.
The bespectacled 23-year-old seized control of the race between 7-8km and never relinquished his advantage as he tamed the hot and humid conditions to strike gold in 1:26:34.

A world class walker walks faster than the average fun runner over this distance awesome.

Despite not understanding why anyone would choose to race walk, this was a great race! Bold move from Yamanishi to go that early, plus a lot of drama for various athletes in the top 10. Also impressive by Mizinov plowing through the field that late in the race and claiming second!

Cos they can't be the best at running. At least they can be best at walking

@@bsolutions525 Nah they can probably sprint too - this is a test of stamina and endurance. Sprinting will take mere seconds and before you know it you’re done competing meanwhile this is jogging for 2 hours 🧎‍♂️

These athletes are walking at 7 minute mile pace. And remember this race is slower than it should be due to the hot and humid conditions of Doha. Oh, I remember the Asian Games 2006, the race walk at the exact place.

Alright all yall be talking about how these guys are fast walkers. And there is no doubt there. I have only done 16 km in 85 minutes while running. But god damn the amount of sweat they built up. The fact that you can see it on the road to the point where if you had no idea would just have guessed that it rained. It makes me wonder wtf these guys are going through to be that drenched. Like shit thats a lot sweat from walking.

In the 80s when i was racewalker the japanese and the russian would be disqualified at the 10k. See at 25% speed. Japanese walkers then were Tadahiro Kosaka, Takehiro Sonohara. Today going air in race walking is crazy, not for world championship level, unfair. Worse with 4:18 by km

When I was a race walker one red card meant disqualification.. These guys can cheat until they get four red cards!!!!.... So you have too be disqualified four times before you are disqualified... In my humble opinion the winner should be the first person over the line with NO! RED CARDS SHOULD BE THE WINNER
