Gonna seize yet another opportunity to shout out Kevin Borlée. At 34 years old he anchored Belgium home for their second consecutive bronze. And he did it in 44.07, quicker than he ran in Doha 2019 (~44.2). AND, he and his twin brother Jonathan are still not done! Whether or not all three brothers will ultimately feature in the Budapest & Paris finals, it would be amazing to see them earn more hardware before they retire.

I would love for them to get on the Olympic podium before they retire. They have just missed out on so many occasions. Now they actually have solid teammates to help them get there.

@kennethcoleman1378
@kennethcoleman1378 11 ай бұрын
It's not really a surprise tbh, when you have a smaller country such as that, there are less distractions. Bigger countries like the US have more competition in the sports arena in terms of the talent pool. yes as a bigger country you have a bigger talent pool but you also have other sports to contend with such as football, basketball, soccer, and baseball where a lot of the top talent tend to gravitate towards because of money. In smaller countries like JA, and T&T you don't have that so the focus on track is bigger and you really don't lose out on top talent like that. 9 times out of 10 some of the top US talent in the NCAA circuit tends to go straight to the NFL. 9 times out of 10 the top international talent in the NCAA tend to go pro in track for their respective countries. So again it's no surprise that these smaller countries are huge contenders.

@@kennethcoleman1378 I don't agree with your analysis, although you may have a good point. Jamaica is involved in many sports (obviously not winter sports), including cricket, soccer, boxing, basketball, and others. Track, however, is a huge sport in the Jamaica, especially because the anual Boys and Girls Championships, which highlight it and make it a nationla passtime. Even Usain Bolt had to make a choice between cricket and track. Therefore, your point of the island nations have only Track to focus on is not so. Also, many talented athletes choose academics over sports because the Caribbean people have a propensity for education.
@kennethcoleman1378
@kennethcoleman1378 11 ай бұрын
@@palootto4021 I'm not saying they ONLY have to track to choose from, i'm saying the bigger countries such as the US have a larger talent pool but a lot of top track talent opt for other sports that make more money. Smaller island nations do have other sports but countries such as JA, have a bigger selling point on track so most athletes end up doing track whether they choose it or not. In the US you can have a guy who is a legit talent in the track world but they end up in other sports. So smaller nations have the upper hand ESP super talented ones like JA and Trinidad because of the culture and lack push towards other sports ESP when countries like the US have more facilities and means to draw them away from a simpler sport like that.
