Hello and welcome to Rich Textures Crochet!
Today we are going to learn how to crochet the men's classic beanie.

Skill Level: Easy
Gauge: 20 sts x 31 rows of pattern = 4 inches.
Finished Size: Approximately 8 x 9 inches laid flat, 20-21 inch circumference when stretched.
Yarn: Rapture by Sugar Bush Yarns (50% merino/50% Llama Soft; 3.5 oz/100g; 211 yds/193 m); For Hat with Brim: 1.5 Skeins Smoky Spirit; For Hat with no brim: 1 Skein Smoky Spirit - This is a light weight yarn.
Hook: Size J/10 (6.0 mm). Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain correct gauge.

Please use a lighter coloured yarn for your tutorials. It’s very difficult to see/understand for a beginner where the back loop of the slip stich rows that you should be going in to actually are...

I started this beanie yesterday and have crocheted about two inches but it is sooooo long - I held it up on my own head and the end touches my chin!!! I’m thinking either the hook size is wrong or the kind of yarn - you do speak lovely and clearly though however you maybe need to rethink this pattern ☺️☺️

I followed the video and have completed 9 row, this hat is now 19” long. I started with 56 stitches, this will definitely have a fold. Something is wrong with these instructions.

After reading all the comments, I am scared to even try this. It sounds like nobody really knows what size hook or stitches.

Is it just me or is the hat super long? It might be because of the yarn I used but it was making it super long for me still love the pattern though

This stitching is beautiful and the tutorial is awesome. Just a heads up to newbies, be mindful of the your yarn thickness and hook size. I did the 56 chain and realized it was way too long halfway thru lol. It was good practice tho.

I’m a little confused. You make it clear to slip stitch into the back for row 2 but just say slip stitch for row 3. If you or anyone can get back to me, please let me know? I’ll just take a break and come back to it. ❤

I am finding it very very difficult to crochet back loop of slip stitches..I'd if it's just me but not a fan

After Row 1, no stitch count is included with the pattern. Am I to assume the remaining rows are the same? 🤪

The beginning loop technique is not one I've seen before. Nice touch; it gives the top a smooth look. Well done.
