Realizing you missed some things. You can easily read the back of Levi's tags to determine date, the 9 series and 512 vintage Levi's are basically gold and I rarely sell for less than 100, the tiny (24,25,26) size 550 sell easily for 60+, and vintage chunky RL polo mens oversized sweaters are an easy $60 every single time to girls.

Just found your channel and it gave me the little extra boost to get into men’s clothing, I have previously been hesitant because lack of knowledge. So thanks! Ah! You are from San Diego! I have only been there once for 2 days but I will always remember stepping out of the airport doors and finally knowing what perfect weather feels like 🥰 (I live in Atlanta, GA...landlocked and humid hot!)

Welcome to menswear. I think you'll find it's significantly simpler than women's clothing. Shouldn't be too hard an adjustment for you. And yeah, San Diego tends to be close to perfect. I'm from here so I take it for granted.

I've got a nice stack of vintage Levi, at least a dozen made in USA pairs from the 90s, that I need to list. I've got denim from the 80s to the early 2000s, at least 150 pairs and it can be tricky to sell them but I've learned that tailor-worthy measurements, go a long way. I will take messages and answer any questions, measure any part of the pants, the rise, the openings, everything, and that's how you get no returns (even when you except them) and happy customers. I've been reselling for about 10 years, on and off, but I've been working on taking it to the next level. I make most of my $ selling things like vintage film cameras and lenses, as well as other electronics and video games, but I've got enough clothing to start a literal clothing store lol. I sell men's and women's clothing, so there's quite a bit to sell. Women buy 75% of all clothing that I sell, even if it's men's clothing, so I've learned to list unisex items and even sell stuff like vintage lingerie and swimwear cause they can fetch good $$. One thing is for sure, styles come and go...and come back, again. Got to try to stay on trend, or ahead of it, which is easier said than done. Lastly, speaking of Polo, I've got a lot of vintage RL polo, some basic stuff and some real nice, made in USA, stuff as well as Japan made stuff...there's a lot of different lines that vary in cost and quality and unless you know how to spot purple and black label RL, or exclusive, 90s designs, there's a lot of standard RL polo shirts out there. I recently found a reversible, Polo Sport down vest jacket, dated from 1999, and inside the inside pocket, was $5 and 3 $1s, all dated prior to 1999. I bought the jacket for $7.99, and got my money back. The jacket sells for between $75 and $100, as the one side says POLO SPORT in large letters and is red, white and blue - classic late 90s LO Head steez...that's the Polo Sport to look for, for a definite flip.

Thanks for all the info. That Polo jacket sold for $105 on poshmark. You're right about staying on trend. I started watching fashion videos put out by fashion dudes in their early twenties and a lot of the info is directly corroborated by ebay sales data.

Back in the 70's and 80's we use to buy our Levi jeans and wash them in hot water so they would shrink to fit. I learn this the hard way. My first pair, I tried them on and they fit nice. I took them home and wash them for the first time and I had to give them to my little brother, because they shrunk way too much. My next jeans I had to buy them a lit big, so they could shrink to fit.

Can't speak for mens but the fit changed for women's jeans when levis moved production out of the US. So vintage or not there's a demand from those of us that remember the old jeans. If memory serves (I worked for them once upon a time) it was somewhere around 2003 when they switched to overseas.

Thanks, appreciate that. I'm currently not disclosing my ebay store just because when people look at your listings and don't buy anything it runs down your sellthrough rate, which the ebay algorithm doesn't like. My sales would likely take a dip. I take a photo of the jeans folded once lengthwise and draped over the bottom of a hanger, sort of looks like a flat lay. Then I do one full front, one full back, one of the front pocket area, one of the back pocket area, one of the fly, all the tags, and both ankles on the back.

"Shrink to fit" means it is older (pre 80's) and you would buy the Levis larger than would fit you and then wash them so they would shrink to your size. This was what you would buy before "prewashed" jeans. Interesting that I have been thrifting for decades for my own clothes, and I am like you eBay customers. I ignore Wranglers.

Hi I just found your channel how about Ralph Lauren green tag. Are those worth anything
@ThriftALife
@ThriftALife 3 жыл бұрын
Those are Lauren Ralph Lauren, which is a relatively low-end women's tag. Some of it's worth it. Especially the navy blazers with a big emblem on the chest.

I just sold a pair of 560"s for $10. People are cheap, and I think I' gonna stop doing "best offer".
@ThriftALife
@ThriftALife 3 жыл бұрын
Best Offer is your friend, just don't accept offers that low. It's totally fine to stonewall lowballers if you do it politely.
@charchar7897
@charchar7897 3 жыл бұрын
@@ThriftALife It's tricky because I'm trying to see if I can increase sales by offering free shipping, so best offer may not work . For example, I have a pair of jeans listed for 18.99, and someone offered me $14.99, so it won't work as I will only be netting around $4.

Has anyone ever seen a Levi’s jean jacket red tag that only has a uppercase E on it? Trying to figure out if it’s a fake and I can’t find anything that explains this

I also have 2 pairs of Wrangler 20X, they've been sitting in my store for months now. Jeans dont sell well for me, I have 50 pairs of jeans not moving at all, and priced low.

New subscriber and loving the content. Two levi's questions. 1) what do you think about the market for very large sizes like 44 to 52 waist, I've sold smaller sizes easily in the local market but it seems harder to sell the big ones? 2) on the large size levi's some have the size on the big patch on the back and some do not. My wife thinks the no size on big patch is for big women, but I don't really think so, any thoughts?

Big sizes should actually sell faster for you, not slower. Men's clothing in big and tall sizes tends to sell faster and for more money as a rule of thumb. Women's jeans can be identified by the depth of the front pockets. If you try to put your hand in them and they feel way too small, they're women's jeans.

Be careful buying wrangler brand. There is a cheaper walmart brand and then the "cowboy" wrangler brand with the leather logo sewn in on the back. The cowboy wrangler jeans are thick, not flimsy at all. They are comparable to cinch/ariat etc.
