Lelisa Desisa added a world marathon gold to the silver he won in Moscow six years ago as he and teammate Mosinet Geremew headed an Ethiopian one-two.
Desisa clocked a season’s best of 2:10:40, with Geremew four seconds back. Bronze went to Kenya’s Amos Kipruto, who finished in 2:10:51, with Britain’s Callum Hawkins clocking 2:10:57 to repeat his fourth placing from the 2017 World Championships marathon in London.

I notice this with athletes from all types of different backgrounds. But it seems to only be in track and field? Idk why. It's so hard to watch sometimes, you'll see someone try to congratulate another person and they'll either ignore them or act like they don't exist, meanwhile they're like barely finishing behind them on a world stage at the highest level to boot. Idk. I don't like it. Hell... you'll even see members under the same country do it to one another. It's mind boggling

The same reason Brits and Americans never get medals anymore, no matter how talented they are, their lifestyles have nevr been as sad and cruelty from life has never effected them as much as the East Afrcian runners. It's their nature. The last time an American male won the word championships was 1989. Think about how much technology and comfort has been introduced to western Society since then.
@Joeonline26

@@calebt4yahweh210 You're an absolute idiot. You're blaming the perception of the stereotypical lazy american who has never run in their life as the reason why British/american athletes can't win a gold medal in track & field events? That is uneducated, narrow-minded and plainly wrong

Hats off to that competitor who took the lead and held it for over an hour 12 miles plus. That is nothing short of mental toughness on such a grueling event like the marathon. Ive never seen such a huge lead like that especially in world class competitions. Its a damn shame he dropped out its a difficult feeling when you get caught. You feel defeated but either way it was a brave run.
@lowsociety8191
@lowsociety8191 4 жыл бұрын
ehhhhh I disagree, anyone in that field could've done what he did, he ended up DNF'ing about half way, the real mental toughness (in my opinion) is finishing and equal (or negatively splitting) in these conditions.

Strategically it was such a huge risk for Ayala, but I can certainly appreciate the effort with his toughness and grit. It’s a shame, I was hoping he’d succeed but we can’t defy what’s been done since marathon racing has started. As great as all these athletes are, this shows us how weak/fragile humanity really is. We work hard to train the human body, mind and endurance but in the grand scheme of things we’re very limited.

I think Alayla knew he was screwed for this race since he ran a full marathon 2 weeks prior so he was just trying to pull off something spectacular and it didn’t work out as we know

Be optimistic. Look at the performance of these athletes. It's absolutely insane. You won't know until you try to run the pace
