Today we unbox the newly released 1/35 AH-64 Apache Longbow from MENG Models.
Kit no. QS-004.
We take a quick look at the parts & instructions first before doing some quick comparisons to the Takom AH-64E offering.

We are very spoilt to have 2 fantastic kits. Thanks for the review because I have 2 of the Takom kits and Meng did an excellent effort to bring out a beautiful kit as well.

Thank you for doing this review! I've been trying to find the markings included. It looks like you can do 3D decals on the instrument panels on meng but not Takom. Also meng has more raised rivets which may be more a little more accurate.

I'll say right off the bat. Mengs instructions are a helluva LOT better than Takom's. And Reskit, has already made the chain gun, in both the flying and parked positions.

I totally agree hoping whoever rolls out the H-60 kits, that they have raised rivets instead of the recessed ones. Maybe combine the Meng and Takom together for a super kit!!! Or at least maybe cast some of the Meng parts and use them for the Takom kit.

Hopefully there will be more H-60 kits. I just found the pavehawk and mh-60l finally. It would be cool to get an MH-47 too.

Great overview and comparison video, many thanks. are the 2 kits of similar price? as to the design of the hellfire missiles parts, both kits have similar glue lines and require lots of sanding/polishing?

Thanks for the great review. I watched neigels modeling bench and he had major problems with the Takom decals

regarding the aft end of the rocket pods: those tabs you see are the rocket igniters (from what I know) and they are built into the rocket pod assembly. They are there whether or not theres a rocket in the pod. also, 30:49 those are called Apache Modular Aircraft Survivability Equipment (AMASE) pods.

I think Takom did a better job with the Avionics bays. They made it extremely easy to install my own wiring with good results. Meng takes it on the cockpit and rocket pods though. If the Takom kit turned out beautiful, i have no doubt this will be the same.Oh side note, I will throw curses at whoever came up with the instructions for the Takom kit.

As far as detail goes, you'll be happy with either - Takom provides a bit more photoetch, which is good or bad depending on your level of comfort. Meng should be a more "streamlined" build. I like Meng's approach to molding the canopy too, less chance for error.
