In this episode, we continue our journey along the Red Centre Way, navigating the heavily corrugated Menindee Loop all the way to Ellery Creek. Unfortunately, since it was early in the season, the Menindee Loop hadn't been graded yet, resulting in a very bumpy ride until we finally reached the black-top. After arriving late in the afternoon at Ellery Creek Big Hole Campgrounds, we were pleasantly surprised to have the entire place to ourselves! Ellery Creek is absolutely stunning, and after enduring a hot day in the car, we truly deserved a refreshing swim.
The next morning, we set off on the Ellery Creek Dolomite Circuit, a 2.5km grade 3 hike located in the West MacDonnell National Park. Continuing our journey, we headed up the Stuart Highway towards Alice Springs when, unfortunately, the Menindee Loop finally took its toll. This marked the first time, in over three years of travel, that we found ourselves arriving at a caravan park in a tow truck!
