Listen to me homie, my birthday i was born with severe jaundice was intubated and nearly died iver ky first three days post birth in care, on my 2nd birthday i learned to walk while my mum was in the kitchen, opened my own pen my mum theorised i was using the wall to help me stand and i got my hands stuck in a radiator burning off my palms snd disfiguring my hands , I had not a single good birthday for 19 years, age ten my mum got drunk and tripped while on holiday and cut my eye open as she fell, the only big birthday party as a kid i got others from school to come over when i was 9 only a few turmed up my aunt got drunk went commando on the swing set and started flashing her downstairs and all the kids went home no one was friends with me after or came over since, all my good friends iny teenage years could never make it as i lived far from them and it was always in summer times where they had familial things on, we were poor so i never got afforded anything either. I was sexually assaulted on one of my birthdays when I was younger at ten so ill leave that at that, amongst other things. The icing on the cake I got diagnosed with late stage massive cancer of the chest on my 20th birthday after 6 months of declining health pre covid,i blew out every candle and wished id find the love my life and i found out at twenty after spending the last two years sorting my life out and getting myself to a good place memtally amd physically to truly be someone deserving of love amd when i finally felt ready to be a partner i basically got told i had three months and to make ammends i cried not because i was going to die but because i was going to die without ever having loved or getting married, alone, i endured 18 months of chemo and radio through covid alone and didnt die, but kept going, i got addicted to painkillers, finished treatment with the tumor (two years on still benign but there) went back to the gym, lost 60 pounds in 4 months of all rhe damage being bed bound fighting for my Life the last two years, then had to battle with getting back into working/education after essentially getting held back from all my friend's through it all, and feeling forgotten. Just to have 4 teeth fall out that Christmas due to side effects of chemo and get into a family argument where i slept outside on a bench at Christmas as i couldn't bring myself to go home, i went to emergency dentist the next day, i was going to need several root canals doing and new crowns fitting i couldn't stick it broke down and cried i was friends with the receptionist at the gym i went to and i basically went there amd she sat with me and calmed me down and when i felt ready i got ready to go home and on the way out i bumped into a young woman, apologised realised upon looking at her she was the sweetest most beautiful lady I've ever seen and from the get go she looked at me like i was really something and i felt for the first time in years good about myself, fast forward three years ive been with her two of those years dated for longer and every birthday of mine since we've spent together on holiday, and i finally got everything i ever wanted and i cherish and love everyday and im no longer afraid or alone. We are moving in together soon and looking to get married. We have argued two times mever raising our voices and us both swear by being better together. I know you'll never read this all, but i promise you things will get better if you just give yourself time. If i had one thing i wish i could tell young me, it's have hope, patience there's no rush these things have time and time is all you have, be strong and look after yourself first. Yes, there is absolutely an issue with how men are treated in society and any time men try to speak up about it they are often shouted down and told that someone else has it worse. It is creating a space where men can seek comfort for the hurt they're facing, but showing the 1 in 1,000 case of a woman asking for 800,000 thousand income from a man will only make people feel even more hopeless. I promise there are good women out there and if you ask them "what should a man make in a year?" they wouldn't even have an answer because it genuinely doesn't matter. Good people exist, and good people don't judge someone based on wealth. These women want a comfortable relaxed life, and they've been raised to believe that it is a man's responsibility to provide them a financially free life. They 100% believe that it is ok to expect that because it's all they've ever known. The traditional patriarchy is just set up that way and it is hurting everyone. A good person will ask how you feel and what you want to contribute to a relationship. Some people might not know any better because of how society is set up, but if you tell them how this expectation hurts people and they are still not willing to change then fuck them. Their opinion doesn't matter and find someone better. Remember, love requires both people to contribute effort. They don't want love from a man, they want the concept of a man they were sold as a child. That's the fictional 6 and a half foot tall millionare that has no interests or life of his own and only cares for them. I know you men are hurting but please hold on, things are slowly getting better and you can make it through this. There are people that care about you very much and if you ever feel like things are too much please call for help. TLDR: Fuck the patriarchy, it's old and stupid and is making men miserable.
