What mental health professionals dont often realize is that many many suicidal people wont call for help because of fear of being carted off by the police to a hospital. People Need to know that they can be free to speak without risk of this. It totally backfires.

I am working as a crisis counselor right now, and this is actually something we talked a lot about during our training. If you call 988, you will get to speak with a counselor for free brief solution-focused psychotherapy, and they will only call Emergency Services as a very last resort. 988 is an awesome mental health resource for anyone in a self-defined crisis, and people struggling with thoughts of suicide need to be made more aware of just how different it is from the 911 response to mental health crises.

A dear friend of mine died by suicide February 9th, 2023. She was beautiful, kind, and loved to sing. She was only 30 years old. Please, reach out to people, just check in on them. Please.

My 22 year old son took his life Feb 28th 2021. Not sure why I'm still here. Not sure how to go about honoring my son's memory. I'm angry, sad, confused, bitter, lost and so much more.

Mental health is a topic that is not talked about enough. Currently, being in medical school, we are being taught to emphasize the individual needs of our patient, and to cater to what is best for them. It is important to balance the rights of the individual and help educate them with their own decisions. They have a voice in their medical treatment, and it is our responsibility to let them voice their concerns. The patient has a right to autonomy, and it is our duty to do no harm toward our patient. What I think is the hardest part for patients suffering from a mental illness, is the stigma that falls within the realm of being “mentally ill”. It is okay to seek for help. I believe the first step in preventing suicidal ideations is to address the underlying factors leading to these thoughts. Rather than simply treating the symptoms, addressing the socioeconomic factors like social inequality, lack of resources, lack of access to healthcare, and stigmas associated with mental illness, will result in better patient outcomes. The first step in any relationship is trust. We as physicians need to build stronger doctor-patient relationships with individuals suffer from mental illness. With proper education and the ability to communicate, patients suffering from mental illness will be more responsive to their needs, ultimately leading to more successful outcomes.

So here's the idea not advertising suicide is a good option because my parents both did it but my question to you is. Why would you want to commit suicide if you are really good at what you do it seems somewhat self-defeating and then my next question is why would other people want to prevent you from performing most outstanding ability? And the world mental health has nothing to do with this obviously.

I am planning on getting involved in depression awareness and suicide prevention charities, where I will mention my struggles with suicidal depression. As someone with severe depression and other severe mental health issues, I'm glad I chose not to have children for mental health reasons, because when I end up eventually dying by suicide in the near future I don't have to worry about leaving any children behind, and they won't have to be left motherless, because they won't even exist in the first place. Part of me wants to die soon, I no longer see the point in living, because I will end up becoming bitter later on in life and then looking back on this time with bitterness.
