I was supposed to start reviewing for the board exams this year, but then the pandemic happened. SO my mom told me to look for reviewers online but I couldnt concentrate because I can hear my thoughts and its jumping from one thought to another. I stumbled upon this channel and it was a blessing. With these lectures, I can easily imagine myself in a classroom setting. I am more focused and I cannot hear random thoughts in my head. This is amazing! Thank you so much!!

32:05 From what I understand about the ecological plaque hypothesis, it suggests that if everything is in balance - like the right pH levels, saliva and tooth surfaces saturated - specific bacteria won't cause disease. So, when considering caries, wouldn't it make sense to accept the ecological plaque hypothesis? or is it completely wrong? And thank you so much! Everything makes more sense after watching these videos.

Sir i wanted to ask question that in progress of lesion after enamel demineralization how dentine demineralization occured when there is no enamel cavitation , how bacteria reached dentine?
@ysk249
@ysk249 4 жыл бұрын
16:40 decreasing enamel solubility decreases critical pH? Isn't lowering critical pH causes demineralization according to the Stephen curve? BTW, you are a globally acclaimed dental educator on KZfaq. Great work!
@mentaldental
@mentaldental 4 жыл бұрын
Good question! Fluoride decreases the solubility of enamel, so the mineral is less likely to dissolve in acidic conditions. Looking at the Stephan curve, it lowers the critical pH of enamel from about 5.5 to 4.5. This means that instead of dissolving at a pH of 5.5 (fairly acidic) it doesn't start dissolving until a pH of 4.5 (a bit more acidic). Does that make sense?

When ion(H+) pulled ion(PO4) and ion(Ca) we call Demineralization. But why ion(F) replace (OH) called Remineralization? It should be the replacement of ion(PO4) or (Ca) from saliva to tooth called Remineralization. and how can ion(F) replace (OH)? I appreciate your work dr
@zahramunir9949

A similarly charged ion replaces the ion that leaves. As fluoride and hydroxyl are both singly negatively charged it makes more sense for F to replace OH.
