Tried this for about 10-15 times to go in with 3 successful attempts to get in so far; twice in an A320 and once in a B737. In one of those instances, the flight was delayed abou 45 minutes due to some mix up by baggage handlers and the pilots shared everything with me about the flight, let me listen to the ATC with their headphones, let me see the route of the flight, showed me the data they entered in the FMC, let me take a lot of pictures and answered all my questions related to flight simulation and what not. Probably the best delay of my life.

I struck gold the first time I asked to get in. The plane was an A330-300. I figured the best time would be after landing when most of the passengers left. As I entered I told them Merry Christmas and thanked them for a great flight. Next thing you know I'm sitting in the captain's chair. He put his hat and headphones on my head and even had me flip a few toggle switches to power things down, it was totally awesome! My wife finally came looking for me and they allowed her to take pictures of everything. I'll never forget it, I couldn't stop talking about it throughout our whole vacation.....Oh, and be super nice to your flight attendant thank them for everything. I think it'll definitely help you to get in for sure.

In 1983 when I was in Grade 3 I was allowed to visit the cockpit of a 747 air Canada flight from Vancouver to Hawaii. The Captain was a bona fide CAPTAIN. He had aviator shades and a perfectly white shirt complete with a gold pen in his breast pocket. He told me that flying a plane was very similar to riding a bicycle, as long as you are moving forward everything is ok. It was a simple explanation but it fascinated me. There was a flight engineer seat and everything was analog. God bless that man....he was so kind.

End Leftism The quote is “Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.” If you think your entertainment is an essential liberty, and preventing all hijackers everywhere from hijacking airplanes forever is either a little, or temporary, then I don’t really know what to say. George Washington once tweeted that “A man who misappropriated quotes and takes them out of context is not a man, rather he is a fuckstick.” By the way, your username is obnoxious and makes me instantly dislike you.

Because of this video, last week, I asked a flight attendant about seeing the flight deck after we landed. She asked the captain and the captain said yes. My goal was just to be able to see the cockpit of the plane, and maybe see how many of the things you've pointed out in your videos that I could recognize in the few seconds they would likely let me stick my head in... I wound up getting to spend about 10 minutes in the cockpit of a 737-900 and talk to the pilot and copilot for a bit about it. Thanks for that. Before your video, it'd never occurred to me to ask to see the flight deck.

I have visited the flight deck as a young child but the one time that stands out from the rest was the day of my 10th birthday. I was flying with my mum, dad, grandma and grandpa from Adelaide Aus to Melbourne Aus on a Qantas 737. The flight is relatively short depending on winds maybe around 1 hour max. The cabin crew were continuously checking to see if I had finished eating and as soon as I was I was whisked up front, placed in the jump seat and belated in and was told enjoy the landing! I loved it!! Once we were parked up at the gate the captain and I stood at the front saying good bye to everyone until my family reached us and we'll dad and grandpa were rather envious if me! It is the best memory I have of flying and nothing has beaten it yet and I am 28 now.

The captain said he's the one to decide such a request, but mentioned the UK airspace as the most strict in Europe where non crew are not allowed in the cockpit. One of the times sat in the jump seat, the captain pointed to a famous land mark and said "look at that", but I couldn't see it so he rolled the airplane to the right so I could get a view out the window :D Also when the flight attendant showed up to serve the pilots I could get whatever I wanted for free.

I was about 6 years old and got woken up by the stewardess and ushered into the flight deck (at the request of my mother) where I stayed until landing. It was a truly remarkable experience that I will never forget and still to this day I am working hard to get back into the flight deck and relive my childhood dreams of becoming a Pilot. It's a real shame that kids today have been robbed of this opportunity due to world events but an understandable risk that the operators do not need to take.

Due to 9/11 captains need to be extremly careful thou and you can imagine the court fee they and theyre airlines would expect if something happens while they break the rules! I do not know youre reputation but or how well you know the captain on those flights - But I can imagine theyre more likely to do thing like this if you have a good reputation and strong contact network within the industry. Johan.

When I was a kid our next door neighbor was a captain for Eastern Airlines. On my 6-7 birthday he showed me around his plane and I even got to sit in the copilot seat. That’s still one of the coolest experiences in my 60 years on this earth.

I remember being a kid in the 90s, my first ever flight, with only 17 other passengers on board I got to go into the cockpit, 23 years later and I still vividly remember the view and all the lights on the dials - while remembering nothing from the actual holiday ha. It sucks we can’t do such things anymore, I’d appreciate it 1000x times more as an adult.

I remember back in early 90s I flew SAS from Copenhagen and the flight was overbooked. I absolutely had to be in Budapest by next morning and after some discussion the pilots agreed to give me a space in the jumpseat in the cockpit. Most amazing flight I have ever been on!

I was lucky enough to visit the cockpit of an A321 and a 737-800 of Ryanair was the last one.. we were flying over Germany and the Captain pointed out a thunderstorm we were flying over to the left of us.. I do recall him saying he loved the 737 as it had the computerised gauges but retained the classic overhead switches and the yoke :).

I really miss allowing people in the cockpit during flight. If I possibly could, I would always allow them in, sometimes from pre-taxi all the way to the arrival gate. Usually, it was a kid; the younger ones would be there for a fairly short time, teenagers would often stay the whole trip. Sometimes it was adults too. The few rules I had was from pushback until about 10,000', they needed to be quiet, our workload is pretty high. Same thing on landing. There's nothing quite like seeing the look on a kids face the first time he sees an actual cockpit of a plane in flight. Absolutely priceless!! It's really too bad that a few people went and ruined it for everyone else.

Being able to say hi to the captain and visiting the cockpit made some of my most memorable moments as a child. I was always interested in and in awe of technology. Sadly flying is no longer as comfortable and enjoyable as it used to be.

I was on a flight on a Dreamliner a few weeks ago and I went up to the cockpit at the end, the captain was more than happy to show me around. To be fair to him it was about 2 in the morning and he was flying again the next day but he had all the time in the world for me. Just a shame about not being able to go in during the flight! Great videos lately mentour, keep it up!

One of the best memories I have of flying is in 1997. Flying from Toronto Canada to London Gatwick. I was invited to the cockpit and was presented my high school grad certificate. As an air cadet in the Royal Canadian Air Cadets I was offered to sit in the jump seat for the remainder of the flight and landing. It was amazing. To bad it has been lost due to a fue.

My first ever flight in 1989 was on a 757 and I am sure I still have the photograph I took of the flight deck. We were just north of the equator and the Captain announced for us when we crossed it. Flew business class a little while ago and one of the channels showed outside temperature, our position and airspeed. That was the one I watched the most!

Not too long ago I was on a flight to Florida on a B787 Dreamliner and whilst I was waiting to use the bathroom the First Officer came out, presumably to use it as well, saw me stood there and and offered to let me go to the cockpit when we landed. It was absolutely brilliant in there! Considering the B787 is a dual aisle plane, I was actually quite surprised at how small the cockpit was, but it was quite bright and airy feeling. The Captain even let me take a closer look at the controls and explained to me what some of them did, which was really cool! The B787 cockpit is also quite advanced too - the cockpit is pretty much entirely glass and there is also a head up display too which is probably very useful when it comes to take off and landing! Up until that point the biggest plane that I was ever allowed into the cockpit of was a Grob 115 (which I got to fly!) so it was pretty incredible in there! Anyways that’s that story done. Loved the video - thanks for making it!

I was fortunate enough to be able to visit the cockpit when I was flying to Colorado by myself in the 90s as a kid, was visiting family. Not sure what plane it was to be honest but at that point I knew I wanted to fly. Sadly I will never be an airline pilot but I am achieving my dream to fly. Only a cross country and a few hours away from my checkride.

I recently flew from Dallas Love Field to Denver with Southwest on a Boeing 737 Max 8. I loaded first and had to use the toilet. The cockpit door was open, and I asked if I could look. Instead of just looking, the pilots invited me into the cockpit, and we had a brief conversation. This was the absolute best experience I have ever had on an airplane.

When I was a child I would from time to time draw pictures for the pilot and a couple times I was in turn invited to visit the flightdeck with my mom during flight. This was of course before 9/11. It's obviously been a long time since then but I still remember those instances fondly. To a small child, seeing all the machines and buttons and stuff was mind blowing and it made me feel so special to be allowed there ♥

one of my earliest & most treasured memories is my first plane ride (BNE->MEL, aug 1999, likely on a Fokker-100) and getting to meet the pilots in the cockpit during cruise. meeting the fanciest men i'd ever seen in my entire 3 years, being entranced by the sheer volume of dials and blinking lights and THINGS going on- getting a choc-mint ice-cream from the pilot monitoring - but most of all the otherworldly feeling of being in such a small space and feeling tiny, even though i didn't really understand that we were thousands of feet above the ground, is genuinely something i'll never forget.

Such a shame that the current world that we live in has spoiled it for children. Some of my earliest memories of flying as a child in 80s early 90s was visits to the flight deck. I would always go up. I remember one clear night flight from Spain to UK, and the captain pointing out Leon in France and answering my questions etc. Inspiring men inspiring aviators of the future. In my military career I got to encounter plenty of trips on the flight deck of military planes because the flight deck doors were open and we were allowed jump seat trips.

British Airways from my experience always seem accommodating at the very end of the flight, especially as the First Officer tends to say Goodbye to the passengers coming out so you can always just ask for a cockpit visit. Just wait until most the passengers have left.

Has thought been perhaps given to doing a video jump seat ride? In other words by selecting a channel on the IFE system, you would get a video and audio feed of what is going on up front. The captain would have the ability to disable this in the event of an emergency.

cjsims3000 American Airlines had this during the 1970s on their DC-10s. It was an innovate way for the passengers to enjoy takeoff, but in 1979 when a DC-10 crashed, the pilots obviously didn’t have the time to switch it off, so passengers got a front seat view of their impending doom. That’s the reason that it never became a big thing, which is kind of unfortunate
