malaysians can relate to the "WHY SHOULD WE BUY THE GOLD DISC" anti-piracy ad that goes before the start of every DVD. basically saying that "ooh yeah disks that are gold on the back are legit, purple ones are NOT". So anyway, every single one of these "purple disks" eventually started carrying those ads anyway for reasons.

Remember travelling to India once, a lonnnnng time ago. In one of the cities there was a big modern Western style shopping mall which had an enormous entertainment store. Which was essentially racks and racks of pirated DVDs for about $1. I bought loads of them. The menus were full of spelling mistakes.

As an Indonesian, i remember watching many movies from bootleg DVDs like this back then when we had not known that streaming services existed. I would go with my Grandparents of my Parents to a DVD seller near a supermarket not far from my house. It'll take around 1-2 months from Cinema release until the Pirated DVD is available. It usually contains ads on the beginning. I have no idea that those were pirated DVDs

The actual movie on the DVD is a DVDSCR you can download, but there's no point now because you can just get the retail version! I know it's from the DVDSCR because of the FACT logo at the beginning.

I had a bootleg cars DVD that cut out half way because the theatre had a kid missing and you can hear the announcements and see people walking through the cinema
