Mephisto in WandaVision? Doctor Strange's weirdness in Spider-Man No Way Home? X-Men in Eternals and Shang-Chi? It's time to look back on our most inaccurate theories of 2021!
Welcome back to New Rockstars' annual tradition of giving voice to the bullies, know-it-alls, and told-ya-so's who feed on the schadenfreude of mocking well-intentioned optimists for falling on their faces and getting dragged in the mud for the rest of their professional lives. Filup Molina and Erik Voss are back to review WHAT WE GOT WRONG in 2021. From WandaVision, Spider-Man No Way Home, Shang-Chi, Eternals, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, and What If, Erik dropped quite a few wild theories and predictions, some of which proved to be accurate, others hilariously off the mark. Will Erik apologize for Mephisto? SHOULD he apologize for Mephisto? And what resolutions has he made for 2022?

I cherish the Mephisto era of New Rockstars and truly, honestly hope that the team can recognize what a wonderful time it was to be alive. Eric, you are awesome. The entire team kicks ass and I can't wait to see how the channel continues to evolve. The best possible scenario is that Marvel DOES develop Mephisto and Eric gets pulled in super secret style by Marvel to shoot a cameo then everyone gets to f'n eat it. Fingers crossed. Manifest.

Well the goal is not to get everything right, the goal is come up with as much plausible predictions/ speculations as possible through well-thought analysis. In that, I think they have succeeded. For example, I think back then, with all the "evidence" available, Mephisto was very much a plausible character that might show up.

Even with Erik being wrong on some of the theories, they weren’t too far fetched. Like, he made them make sense in the show/films. That’s what makes him so incredible!! Even if he gets it wrong it’s not like a “ha! we got you! You’re wrong!!!” I was fully convinced with his theories! NR has honestly made the MCU even more enjoyable than I thought was possible. What a year!

Tell you what, I, for one, love Erik's breakdowns and theories... He's my number 1 Marvel related KZfaqr (even above MT & The Canadian Lad)... Like, Erik's breakdown videos are the most comprehensive and intense and his way of presenting stuff is very very likeable in general... Before every series/movie, the way he gives crash courses on every single plot point and character, I love it😌 Keep going strong, Erik. You the man👍

In Erik's defense, the WandaVision plot was heavily modified. The Doctor Strange thing didn't even happen. For me, Disney backed down with showing a devil on his screen at the launch of the entire series of shows, he was afraid of complaints from mothers.

The funniest thing about Mephisto is that we just got most of the major stories from the comics that Mephisto is known for. He was working for Thanos during the Infinity War, he was involved with the origin of Wanda and Vision's children, he was the way that Spider-man made people forget his secret identity. I bet if they ever get around to doing Ghost Rider again, even that will be without Mephisto.

Let's be honest. I'm into Voss more for "details you missed" rather than for all the predictions, anyway. I tend to regard the predictions as the more interesting story lines/plot points that the writers didn't option.

Thanks to WandaVision, it made me search for more info on what was all going on!?! Thankfully I found Eric, and the New Rockstars gained a new subscriber! I have loved watching NR after each new Disney+ series episodes. This has now extended to watching NR after every major release, theatrical or streaming.

So happy to see Filup onscreen again! While Eric's batting average for theories may not be perfect, they are ALWAYS entertaining. I take umbrage with this assessment in the sense that I’ve never felt theories about nerd stuff is meant to be “right” in the stricter sense. They are meant to be fun and give us a direction as to where things could be going. That said, I know they are only grading him and taking it so seriously for the fun of it but I still thought I’d add my thoughts because that’s my theory.

Honestly, outside of being fun in the moment to talk about, I don't even really care about predictions. I'd rather have my expectations subverted anyway, and you guys earn your keep with the easter egg breakdowns. If I have any criticism from watching this past year... it's that I think MT is a great addition and he's gonna rule the world someday, and nobody makes me laugh like Tommy.
